I hope it’s not getting demolished

There is this building behind the old souk in Kuwait City that didn’t look like much today but I always imagined it when it was first constructed and how beautiful it must have looked back then. You can’t tell in this picture but it had a nice retro design with a great looking base structure that gave the building a look like it was lifted up in the air with pillars. I noticed the building has now been vacated and I’m really hoping it’s getting renovated and not demolished. There’s some great looking architecture that really needs to be refurbished and brought back to life.

I was admiring this building few mOnths back, I think it should be listed; keep the exterior n rebuild the interior.. It takes me back to kuwaits gold age and glory plus its a beautiful structure…
I think u should do a poll about this?!!

I don’t see why the powers that be just renovate it and turn it into a ministry complex or something. Why waste millions to demolish and rebuild something that most probably will look uglier?

In the states, in order to demolish buildings as old as this one, they first need to know whether its classified as a historic building or not. They look at the architectural aspects as well as the historic facts of the building… from that they decide whether they can or cant demolish it….. Sadly, codes and rules like that are never carried in Kuwait…. I mean seriously wtf?

I try to understand what they are really trying to do, but I cannot, or maybe I don’t want to relate it to greed, but it will take a long of time plus educated people that loves the country and try to make the best out of it instead of taking things that’s not thiers, by then I’d say we have a bright future, if whatever is now keeps going, I just wish it ends up with the least damage.
