I know this sounds weird and I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around it but according to an article on the Hotelier website it seems they’re planning on bringing the famous Swedish Ice Hotel to Kuwait. The Ice Hotel is basically a hotel built out of ice and everything inside is made of ice so I have no idea how this will work in Kuwait. Check out the article [Here]

Seriously it wouldn’t last….
literally
I saw wonders in this country 🙂
Imagine how much energy it would need if they used some sort of refrigeration to keep control of the melting.
Can’t be good for the environment.
Actually, having this inside a place like the Ice Skating Rink would be possible.
Remember, the temperature needs to be zero, maybe a degree or 2 below… nothing more.
it wouldn’t work because the ice skating rink temperature is not zero. thats not how you get ice in ice skating rinks its a more complicated system that lies underneath the floor, check here

Thanks for the link Mark.
It seems the temperature of a hockey rink is around 17 degrees…..
I remember feeling a bit colder than that inside that place 🙂
Maybe it means that it is now possible to rent a refrigerated room in a warehouse in Subhaan for a night 🙂
Touche’!!
For temperature control, they might replicate the Mall of the Emirates experience with indoor skiing
possible but i’d rather get indoor skiing over an ice hotel
There’s no way. I stayed at the Ice Hotel in Sweden for a night and you have no idea how cold it was, not only inside the hotel but in the general area. They provide suits for you to wear once you arrive and I had to wear my ‘Canada goose’ jacket over the suit since it wasn’t warming me up. You sleep in reindeer fur (which is warm) but your head must still be covered in a hat. The fun about it wasn’t the hotel but the activities on the outside which included snowmobiles, dog sledding, etc. In fact, they wake you up at 7 am so that tourists can come view the rooms during the day. No idea why this is coming to Kuwait or if it is even possible. Good luck to whoever is doing it. It is a bold project.
Forgot to mention the bathrooms. There are none in your rooms. Just shared locker rooms outside the hotel where you keep everything. You must walk in the ice and snow to get to it. So if you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, god help you.
My point is that it was a great experience going. But the hotel itself wasn’t the experience, but rather taking the trip all the way to northern Sweden, eating reindeer meat for dinner, and enjoying the outdoor activities they had to offer. The hotel was cool but definitely not comfortable. It was the entire experience that made it worthwhile, not the hotel itself.
I’ll book it for the summer 😀
maybe its….. not ice in the outside but ice only in the inside (kuwait version)
I’d rather see massive indoor gardens.. like the ones in Singapore..

Ha! This is my idea! This project could be done on the Green Island and would be the only project done by Singapore in the GCC. I think these kinds of environmental projects done by the government would calm the aggressive tone in this nation. I have seen these gardens and Kuwait needs this put you need the correct mindset in the government to do this type of project. They need not to be self-serving. Privately done? Most Kuwaiti companies don’t want to spend these costs in Kuwait, but you are correct this would be a valuable social project.
Don’t you guys know Kuwait has the record for most unfinished projects ?
you need to spend that shitload of money somewhere ya know.. 😉
I’d rather they renovated the existing hotels and readjust the rates; paying higher rates than 5 star hotels in Dubai (excluding Atlantis etc) is ridiculous.
That’s because there is no/very limited tourism and quite frankly economic distraught Kuwait needs tourism but they will have to legalize liquor in hotels.
YEAH GREEEAT, PUT MORE PRESSURE ON ELECTRICITY CONSUME IT, MOORE POLLUTION!!!!
If only Agility’s 20K warehouse hadn’t burnt to the ground….
This is a good thing. I always need ice for my Red Label (tea, that is, iced tea…)
they should call it boiled water hotel XD Cant wait to visit that Hotel @@
Maybe they know something that we don’t know because why would they build an ice hotel here in Kuwait but no Vodka at the bar? Vodka is best served cold! Hmmmmmm…
Lol….ice hotel in kuwait..quite interesting but the most exciting part is maintaining the ice under kuwait’s temperature hahha.Should spend a lot!!
Dazzling!
