it looks like it’s being dismantled (for renovation maybe?) rather than torn down. I’ve never seen a building being torn down this way in Kuwait; they generally use machinery to just tear through a building unconditionally and strip it of the metal to be sold for scrap.
I never got the chance to even visit the place 🙁
Then no offense, but how does that even affect you? Many of us have our childhood memories defined by this place. If you haven’t visited before then you are not missing anything. To be honest its just a regular small skating rink, nothing to miss if you don’t have nostalgia.
Speaking of non-essential work during corona. Why are they at work? How is this essential?
There are so many private companies that are still working. I don’g understand how buying Ceramic tiles and sanitary ware is important during this time.
The government actually is using the curfew hours to do construction on roads that otherwise never are empty enough to touch. Silver lining I guess
din’t we have enough sadness. 🙁
Can’t be happier… Al Shaheed park is my favorite place in Kuwait, waiting for phase 3. The bigger the merrier.
Well done Amiri Diwan.
This wasn’t stopping the expansion of the park, they’re replacing the ice skating rink with another building.
*cries in millennial nostalgia*
Happiest news i read since corona outbreak
It looked sooooo ugly and old
Me and many others, had the best time in their lives in this place.
so many good memories so many tears!
Check out the picture. So much for social distancing!
I remember hearing clearly that they changed their mind on tearing it down, and they were gonna repurpose it into a park building? Maybe this has something to do with that?
