Back in October I posted about a reader who’s neighbor installed telecom transceivers on his roof and covered them up to look like decorations. After complaining to the baladiya they came and removed the telecom towers a few weeks ago. So a happy ending right? Well a few days ago another neighbor suddenly had what looks like a water tower popup on his roof. After careful inspection turns out there were telcom transceivers hidden inside them.
So now he’s going to go back to the baladiya to complain again. This time he knows the correct department to talk to so the towers should get removed pretty quickly. It is illegal to place telecom transceivers on the roof tops of residential buildings. So know your rights and know how to spot them.

What do these do?
boost 3g signals, i think so
Yes, I was wondering the same thing, what’s the point of these? And if they’re on the neighbor’s roof why are they anyone else’s problem?
so lets see … I want to hide the fact that I have telecom receivers on my roof so I’ll place them inside a huge ass replica of the Kuwait water towers on my roof … paint them blue & white to not attract any attention … what a dumb ass!!
exactly.. looking at the way they plan to hide it really hit me hard and got me cracked up lolol
Yes…what do they do???
i understand that their illegal, what i dont understand is why is ur friend soo pissed off at it ?
Dear Mark,
Can you let us know what is the harm in these receivers and from what i understand is that this is something to do with telecom, and they have the towers covered every where even in my place they have one such tower.
I have a telecom tower installed on the house I live in, I just moved recently, I understand that the Salwa area has a definite phone line / network coverage problem but nevertheless if its anyway harmful to my family and neighbors, please elaborate how so, so we can inform the authorities immediately!
There are different types of telecom towers and some of them emit extreme amounts of radiation so no you don’t have to complain if you like having cancer I guess
What is the harm, if any, of having telecom towers?
Can anyone post the department or contact in baladiya, I think i have seen one of these in my block. Thanks
The harm is… they use illegal international phone calls.. as busines…
I’d like to know more about the departments in baladiya. What does that specific dept deal with?
I’m looking to add a parking shade in the open space across from my house. So which dept would I go to to receive approval for this. Several of my neighbors have them and when baladiya came 2 years ago to my area to rip my and my neighbors’ gardens apart, nothing was done about the parking shades.
If I’m not mistaken the telecom providers pays the owner a monthly fee for having their equipment installed.
So I guess people take advantage of that without knowing the risks involved in terms of radiation.
How does it Harm others
Well, you can get signal boosters from the internet. However, I don’t know if these harm you or not.
Signal boosters aren’t anywhere near as extreme as some of the stuff that emits the main signal
Dudes,
I get really tired of this kind of thing, we are virtually swimming in a sea of radiation, that does not mean that every kind of it is harmful.
Someone woke up some day and decided it is a good idea to raise the fear level a notch and boost their image by banning these towers in certain areas. No such regulations in any other country that I know of?
There is no scientific evidence that this particular band can be harmful to human beings, your microwave, baby monitor and anything using the 2.4GHZ frequency is what is really bad!! Water resonates at 2.4GHZ so basically those devices can boil you.
Now, going back to 3G/2G boosters and antennas, the closer they are to you the lower the transmission power to whatever device is communicating with it. The further away the more power that frequency needs in order to travel. So basically it is safer to have one around you than to have to communicate with a further antenna.
I did a lot of work on this for the TRA in Bahrain two years back, but people choose to believe myth over science every time. Typical.
Bee, friend I’ll assume you are involved in tele tech so when u said ” the closer u r, the lower the transmission power” by transmission power did you mean intensity?
And also how can you be sure that these wireless communication devices/antennas are completely safe?
Hi Rahman,
Yes, I actually did my Telecom engineers masters in Germany..
Any ways, it is more likely for you to be harmed by the heat induced from the handset being pressed to your head for prolonged periods of time than from the actual transmission waves.
By transmission power I meant, the energy that you need to put into the wave itself so it would travel the required distance. How hard do you have to hit a ball to make it travel for 1KM? How hard would you have to hit it to make it move .5 meters? The same applies for waves, transmission power is something that the station closest to you will negotiate with your handset. So the closer you are the lower the power.
Dear All,
The signal boosters do harm humans that’s why it is illegal …. Satellite dishes also have radiation but if you stand infront of it but not as harmful as the signal booster.
Signal booster are manly placed away from residential areas and are placed in very high towers. The higher the tower the better not houses.
You can also youtube mythbuster how they try roast a turkey or chicken from a satellite dish.
Ps: I am a kuwaiti and I love the and care about the people but there are people in the government who look at cheaper ways and don’t care about your health … Like building a big electric distributor next to your house which causes cancer. Throwing waste into the sea, filtering the smoke of the oil refinery etc…
I see them On Every 20 Building In Jleeb and those Buildings are very Short in Height Probably 6 Floors.
It’s lack of awareness that is killing us here in Q8. And it’s even worse when the people in charge also try to trick you up rather than dig in their pockets.
I hope this helps straighten up some of the facts. its from the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency.

I live in the states and dont get cellphone service within a 50 km radius. I use a Femtocell device from Sprint. Dont know what it is? Google it. Sprint, Verizon and AT&T offer it. Pretty much you plug it into your high speed internet modem, and you set which all cellphones you can allow to access it. It then broadcasts a cellphone signal within the range of your house and a little outside(depending on the size of your house). You can then use the cellphones like you normally would. I enjoy it. I love being far away from all the traffic and annoying people, and yet get cellphone service at my house through this device. The particular device I have is called the “Samsung Airave”
Mark thank you for posting this. People should know the hazard of these towers, do your research and you’ll get the answer.
To contact the Baladia, go to : https://www.baladia.gov.kw/
To contact Baladia of Hawalli call 25721450 etx 101, 102 or 103. try to find eng. Fahad.
I will keep you updated.
Regards.
Marzouk Pearl in Salmiya has 3 towers on top of it. Its unbelievable! I’m complaining on Sunday.
Well Marzouk might be counted as commercial since there are shops underneath. I have a building in front of my house that has a few of those boosters on the roof but the building is commercial/residential so it’s probably legal.
Damn! I’ll try anyways.
I have many such antennas on our residential building and we have our childrens play downstair. Our building is only 6 floor building so im very concern with this issue. Kindly please guide me to which baladiya department to inform and will they take action if a complain is filed by couple of tenants signing the complaint letter. Please guide

The regulations are likely similar in Kuwait.
mark I cant seem to find my reply that i previously posted.
Sorry for my lack of awareness. I am too lazy to google and dig thru’ tonnes of information. Could someone please let me know what do these things do? :S
These are not illegal ; Most residential areas have building owners who have rented out their top floors to telecom operators for better coverage. There are contracts involved which I believe are valid for 5/10 years. There are a lot of places in Kuwait where there is no available space for the operators to build a site and hence normally their first choice is the Co-ops in the area ( please look up any co-op in your area), if that’s already occupied by competition , they go about hunting for owners who are willing to rent out spaces.
3G boosters look nothing like the above picture , the above picture clearly shows a shelter where all the main modules of the site are located and no they aren’t a health risk .
It’s hilarious how people start cussing poor coverage in areas and when operators actually do something about it ..”ooh let’s complain to the baladiya about it” and when there’s documented proof about the negative effects related to smoking and how it’s the lead cause of cancer , people selectively place a deaf ear to the same.
The whole tower thing definitely is a bit too tacky for anyone’s taste but Mark i would advise your friend to take a chill pill.
There are no evidence what so ever about the telecommunication signals and if it have any harmful effect…These types of towers are being built every where in the world…so dear all if we believe we can get rid of cell phones without any reason then we can all now reject these towers everywhere…As I believe that the emission of these towers doesn’t differ if it is on the ground or on the roof of the building..
I think this solution and the equivalent solutions are necessary for all of us because there’s not communication and good internet service without comunication towers so, I consider these solutions are necessary for our service and in the same time environmental.
With out these tower we will not have mobile so how u need the service without its source
All the world are using these kind of towers
We have gas in home; if we think in the same way ; that gas is a bomb at any time
Electricity is also dangerous
Can we live with out electricity ; gas ; mobile
If so why we bought mobile and some times the latest one
So turn off your mobiles and live without it
I can’t believe that there are some educated people writing something that doesnt make sense.
7abiby not all poeple are using their mobiles or tablets near the telecom towers!
Some are far away and some are using inside buildings with many metallic parts surround them thus the telecom tower should produce enough power to transmit the signals to the users!
That means the EM radiation is very high near the towers and that’s why it is illegal to install these towers very close to humans!
You shouldn’t enjoy your wireless devices and harm your self and others.
People can enjoy their lives without harm and without damaging the environment. Eveyone is responsible.
Actually penetration is independent of irradiated power. It depends on things like modulation and coding.
I’m a girl btw….
@Wierdo – good point(s)
The only reason some people get worked up about towers in their neighbor hood is probably because they didn’t get a shot at the rental contract first. of course the picture above is an eyesore, but there are other designs they can choose from
That’s wonderful shape, I hope the communication companies to universalize this shape and other decorative shapes in all parts of our country, and many thanks for people do it.
I’m so confused. Why would it be illegal for him to have this? Why does his neighbor care? And why does he want it in the first place?
Ah, to live in Brazil where laws are hardly enforced and your neighbors don’t give a damn 😉
Mark the baladia came few days ago and they are proceding in the process like they did with the other house.
Lets see when it will be removed.
was it removed? update us. whats happening
We have a telecomms tower less than 5feet from my bedroom window and i wonder how safe it is for my 7months old baby
Does anyone have a contact at Baldiya for this issue? I’ve recently moved to Salwa and its a 2 floor building with a tower on the roof. I want to check the frequency of the waves and whether its safe for my baby, whose 2 years old. Can anyone please suggest?
