Is this the new Jazeera Airways terminal?

I previously read Jazeera was getting their own terminal and I’m guessing this design is it. [Images Source]

The quote below is taken from the Jazeera Airways website:

Jazeera Airways Terminal
We are on track to have moved some 4 million passengers by end 2008 and project passengers in excess of 8 m by 2012. The Jazeera Airways custom built dedicated terminal is our response to protect the integrity of our service offerings and offer the passengers a dedicated Jazeera Experience that is second to none and maintain our On Time excellence. Jazeera’s CEO announced recently that they cancelled building their own terminal plan, as Kuwait is having a new bigger airport; they are right, they should not be disconnected of the main party

Great find. This probably was one of the design firms proposals when the airline was heading towards building their own terminal because of the congestion at the current airport (The airport is currently running above capacity).

While the search was on, the Kuwait government finalized the much needed new airport (beautiful new airport I must say) to be built taking into account current national carriers (including Jazeera Airways) and future passenger growth potential. So it became redundant for the airline to build its terminal, and the project is closed. That’s the story:)

– Source, various disclosures regarding the issue by the airline’s management.

Great renders though ๐Ÿ™‚

BUT, some carrier(s) could be utilizing the Royal Terminal taking some of the passenger numbers out of KIA due to that fact that the current airport can no longer handle passenger levels. The Royal Terminal is what Wataniya used. I challenge another carrier to utlize this terminal and PLEASE not Kuwait Airways. I hopt that these planners have the sense to build the new airport in phases like Qatar. So that passengers can be utilizing the new terminal ASAP.

MMN new terminal is due in 4 years or so.. I think they just floated the construction tender this week.

This is actually one of the few projects that are really happening. But yeah, everything is so politicized in Kuwait nowadays, even basic infrastructure initiatives.

Hope the new airport sees the light of day as planned ๐Ÿ™‚

Ok, let’s speculate, that’s all we have in Kuwait, if this project would have gone through and was operational in 2012, they would have been forced to upgrade their fleet which they desperately need to do because they are flying the wrong planes for this market, it would have taken all the foot traffic from their passengers out of KIA which KIA desperately needs because it can no longer cope with passenger levels, and finally it would have brought some respect for this nation in the regional airline market because alas Kuwait upgraded a local carrier to the standard of neighboring GCC nation’s carriers. Currently, Jazeera is not a respected carrier, and I predict that they will have to move out of Terminal 1 when the Maktoum Airport opens because to anyone in the airline business, it reads like a discount carrier and this new terminal will be for discount carriers.

im not sure what you expect of Jazeera since they are a low cost carrier and don’t really promise you more than they offer, and to be honest i would much rather fly them (being a low cost budget carrier) rather than the “full service” rubbish excuse of a national airline kuwait airways. and Fleet wise what airplanes do you think they should be flying? they have a young fleet of Airbus A320’s one of the most advanced narrow body aircrafts on the market today which fit their business strategy as a low-cost regional airline perfectly, and they do keep them well maintained.

All I know is Jazeera are giving carriers like Emirates a run for their money on the KWT-DBX sector.
And while Jazeera may not be regarded in the same breath as say, ANA, KLM or Swiss there is a lot more respect accorded it in aviation circles than the dodgy Kuwait Airways could garner even in its prime. Talk about presentation- I mean just look at KU presentation: their staff attitude, in flight service(or the lack of it), cleanliness of cabins and toilets, shoddy quality of in-flight announcements, pathetic inflight entertainment and sloppy ground handling services. Need I say anymore?!
