Khidma

I have two issues with gas stations in Kuwait. First is that there are only five stations (at least it feels that way) and the second is that they lack mini-marts. Maybe sometime in the future these issues will get fixed but for now it seems the priority was to face lift the oil change section.

The picture above is of the new Khidma oil change at the Kortaba station. Looks pretty but I would think if they were going to face lift something it would be the actual gas station and not the small oil change area.

what i hate about these is that even my SSR (which is a Pickup) can’t go over these oil holes or what ever they call them it keeps on Rubbing and hitting

The balloons are a 70’s set back.

That being said, mini markets are slowly being introduced to gas stations, yet, when available, you have to ride your car to actually get there.

Practical ? not.

All the gas station in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are a reference point of how to fitout and then opearate the station , minimart and the Oil Service Bays.
They upgraded in around 2 years to world class standards. In Kuwait it takes the companies 2 years just to digest the business plans prepared by the global consultants before even planning the rollout. Feel sad…

As usual, Kuwait is at least 10-15 years behind Abu Dhabi-Dubai, who already had minimarts in 1996 at at least half of their petrol stations…Sad indeed as DG said.

The problem that the new gas station owners (operators) have plans for mini-marts and fast food in gas stations, but the ones who are stoping them from doing so is the Municipality. They are not giving them permission to build the sizes they require. They are under pressure from “eljam3eyat elta3awonia” not to do so, coz they feel mini-marts will affect their business. It is not the fault of the new operators.

i think that the ones in kuwait city should not have mini-marts… the one on the shalay road or salmi road or abdally should have the mini-marts

The sad thing in Kuwait is that there are a lot of great ideas. They start as great ideas and then somehow get hijaked and run by idiots & the system does not help.

I dont believe that a minimart in a gas station is going to affect the business of the co-ops. The coops are BIG buillies… they bully everyone including the businesses in Kuwait. There is an idea to privatise them !

i really don’t care for mini marts except if a gas station is on the highway, any gas station in the city is surely close to a CO-OP or something convenient, what i really want to see changed is the paying booth, now in a gas station that has let’s say 12 pumps, plus the diesel line which may have a couple, let’s say for arguments sake that 80 percent of ppl filling up are ready to pay, i don’t think i need to say more, becuase i’m pretty sure everyone at some point in their lives has faced traffic inside a gas station just because there was one cashier for the entire station. that’s 2 cents for ya.
