I’m going to start sharing some of the photos I got from my last trip to the KOC photography archive. This group of photos in this post are of the old Kuwaiti police force, I don’t have a specific date but I’d say the photos were probably taken in the 60s.

Anybody know the make and model of the police car? The one in image No.18 to be exact.
It looks like a 76-77 Buick Regal.

Holy Crap none of these guys are texting or pulling women over to get their number! It is weird seeing cops actually doing their job in Kuwait!
And if anyone wants to know why police then were so cool, official and committed you’ll find one of the answers in the final picture. that middle guy… who appears to be a British. One of many that had great influence.
who was he?
Mark, I just want to say thank you for the work you are doing to help these photos see the light of day again! The photos really are a wonderful peak into the past! I love showing my 4 year old son (he is Kuwaiti) the pictures! I hope he learns to love history as much as I do, and to take pride in his heritage!
To take things up a notch, can anyone help in knowing what was the model of the bike ??? It has the features of an Italian bike but it is quite hard to tell.
Nevermind, it turns out to be a late 60’s Laverda 750 SF
Nice to see these pics. Cops in gutra looks nice.
Mark – thanks for these! Can you tell me… where is the KOC photography archive? Do you mean the one in Warwick Uni? Is it open to public? I’m a student at SOAS and writing dissertation on Kuwaiti history – this is golddust! Thanks. Maya 🙂
