Kuwait : 1964

Beautiful picture from 1964 of a young Indian couple in Kuwait. I wonder if the houses in the back are still standing. [Flickr]

I think the building is still in Hawally. It is about 100-200 meters away from the signal of Hawally bridge going towards Jabriya from Salmiya.

Life back in the 60s was pretty neat as my dad used to say. Back when there were no 3agad to make things worse as it is now. Kuwait rocked in the 60s and early 70s.

beautiful architecture…i wish they keep all these bldgs…. anad whats amazing is the caliber of the couple!!!!! they seem well off. they had a car at a time where veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery few kwuaities had cars!

Those are my parents in the picture. I asked my mom where this was taken and she said Hawally/Nugra right down the street from the Andalus theatre (if I am not mistaken, the theatre was torn down a while back).

Indians. An essence of Kuwaiti culture since 1960. Where would this country be without them? Exactly.

Yah those houses are still up, this place is exactly in hamed al – salem street opposite the the american university of kuwait now.. the last time i passed by they were still there.
and yes im pretty sure about the place.
