Kuwait 5 Aside is a new sporting venture, one that builds on the success of the outdoor football pitches. Salem Haidar the owner of Kuwait 5 Aside noticed a lack of structured football in Kuwait so he came up with the idea to start a 5 aside league.
By being part of a league you can playing more competitively but what I thought was more interesting is the fact you get to play in a large flood lit indoor and air conditioned football pitch. That means you could play football all year round no matter how bad the weather is outside.
According to the league rules, each team should have minimum of 7 players and they’re hoping to get a maximum of 140 teams to provide leagues running 6 days a week. The games are from 6 to 11pm and each game lasts 45 minutes. The cost is KD156 per player which would come out to around KD3 a game since there will be 52 games a year. the payment concept is not appealing at all…
lets say they have 1 or 2 pitchs, do we get allocated/choose of a particular day of week? and the restriction of 7 players per team is not that good. Do each team gets 1 match per week?
what happens if i miss a month due to team separation or any other kind of reason that might prevents us to play?
why dont they make it rent-per-hour? they will make more money and publicity this way..
looking forward for other people’s opinion
Honestly it is a good and structured system, the pitches per hour are available from other places but this man has a goal to create a league and its a great idea to do so!
We need more venues for activities such as this!
he will be making over 152,000 kd a year.
i doubt that is anywhere near his costs. i would say 100 kd a year for 52 games would be fair.
I honestly think it’s a great idea. 3KD per game isn’t expensive at all given the provided facility.
The only problem will be the organization of dates and timings. If they can handle that and keep everyone satisfied then they deserve the 152,000.
I am currently in a 5 aside league in the states. It costs 140 for a season which is 13 games, so i think its fair. Its a great idea especially if you don’t know people in Kuwait that play football regularly like my case but in the states.
Same concept as 7 on 7 American footbal in the States. In 7 on 7, the players are only high school level and they are the coaches, no high school coaches or parents telling them what to do. Great way for them to improve leadership skills.
its per team or per player? KD 3 per player = KD 21 per team = KD 3192 per team = KD 446880 .. not bad lol , if its per player
cool indoor stadium!
I hate types.. but what I meant was KD 3192 per team/year
*typos..
I am outta hear -.-
here* …. MARK please put a delete option here -.-
Where is it? address
I cant believe this is news in a rich country that has football as its favourite national sport.
When you think that we pay 3 dinars each now to play on the outside pitches then this is actually great value! For the same price we are getting a state of the art facility that we can use all year round and the chance to play in a structured league and actually compete against other teams instead of just have a game with no purpose. I wouldnt like to be the one organising all this from behind the scenes, it must take a lot of work, the guy deserves every fils for bringing this fantastic idea to Kuwait.
Did anytihng ever happen here – I am new to Kuwait (second week coming from the UK) and want to play some 5 a side but no contacts yet.
