The video says this fire happened three days ago (16/9/08) but I haven’t heard anything about it. Here is another video showing the plane more clearly.
WTF why didn’t they but it on the news so it least people would tear Kuwait Airways apart 😛 i hope no one got injured or something.
This is scary stuff… hope everyone is fine
Maybe it wasn’t in the news but at least it seems they were vigilant and on guard and got the situation under control
But what would prevent such a major event from not showing up in news?
They did have it in the newspapers. It was fire that started because of a ground staff mistake. The plain was fueling and one of the cars hit the pipe and it caught fire.
it was on the news and in the newspaper too, maybe you guys should be updated with the current events.
yeah it was in Alwatan Daily today, it was refueling prior to boarding and departure and the fire broke out, no one was on the plane and it was bound to India
Damn here goes the 777 ;/
I dont believe one word that comes out of them….
isn’t it a huge coincidence that this fire happens just before the big con-artist, thiefs running kuwait airways must hand over the company for privatization!!
it stinks to high heaven of an insurance scam/job.. A way to get more cash through their financial books which they always manipulate inorder to steal money.
it happened in india
so it wasn’t the kuwait airport ground staff!!!
it didn’t happen in india…u can tell by the lady’s voice who’s announcing the flights during the end of the clip….i’d recognize that damn voice anywhere….
I saw the first video on alrai news the same day it happened
this didn’t happen in india. look at the guy in the dishdasha at the bottom left of the screen from 20-24 secs. i highly doubt that’s an indian walking around in a dishdasha, lol ;p
I asked an aviation forum I recently joined, and they confirmed it happened. This is what KUNA reported on the day:
Fire caused by fuel leak in KAC plane under control – civil aviation
Communications 9/17/2008 12:05:00 AM
authority By Ahmad Faraj KUWAIT, Sept 16 (KUNA) — A unit from the fire department working at Kuwait airport was able to take down a fire caused by fuel leak in one of Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) planes and no injuries were reported, Director of Civil Aviation Authority Bader Botaiban said on Tuesday.
Botaiban told KUNA that while a plane was fueling at one of the airport gates prior to departure a huge amount of fuel leakage was witnessed at 8:50 local time, noting that fire broke out when one of the maintainance vehicles situated underneath the plane caught on fire.
The plane was on its way to Hyderabad International Airport in India.
The unit from the fire department rushed to the scene and took control of the fire without causing any human injuries, Botaiban added.
In response to a question regarding the plane, Botaiban said that the plane suffered from the black smoke as result of the fire and was transferred to the maintenance department.
Authorities are currently working to know the exact cause of the leakage and those responsible for it, Botaiban added.(end)
it was bound to happen anyway stupid things happen to stupid people and to stupid planes with old stupid outdated seats and stupid EVERYTHING … you get the point
It hasn’t happened in the air….. yet.
kuwait seriously needs to consider a major fleet update
AMQ the problem is the Government doesn’t want to spend any money on KAC they want the new owner to do that.
