Kuwait Custom Car Show

I sadly don’t have much info on this event only what I found on the Facebook page which is:

This is the very first car show to be hosted by the U.S. Embassy Kuwait, come enjoy the latest and greatest in automobile technology and modification.

Date: Tuesday, October 6, 2009
Time: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Location: U.S. Embassy Kuwait
Street: Masjid Al-Aqsa St.
City/Town: Bayan, Kuwait

Here is the link to the Facebook page but there isn’t much else there. An event like this should have been better advertised… only 11 confirmed guests on their Facebook page. I don’t even have a logo or picture to attach with this post since there doesn’t seem to be a flier or anything of the sort. [Link]

I heard about this last week from my friend that is participating, we’re gonna try to make to this thing but fucking work ugh

Finally another Embassy involves in social activities! We were just talking about how Japan Embassy have been very active socially in Kuwait through organizing lots of events, their latest is a beach cleaning on November 7th (Posted in 360Dewan.com) I’m really glad to see the US one starts taking part šŸ™‚

I was on my way back from work on the 5th-ring-road when I saw a convoy of pimped H2s and lifted chevy silverados raising Kuwaiti & American flag and SAFCO (I guess) stickers on the doors heading to Bayan.

Dear readers,

The event is a car customizing contest for the best styled cars in Kuwait and it is hosted by SAMCO and in collaboration with the US Embassy and the Ambassador Ms. Deborah Jones will be hand picking this year the winner, runner up and third place position.

It is the first of its kind on Kuwait and will hopefully be an event that will get more attention and actually sponsoring for the years to come.

But as this is the first step, our main purpose this evening to gather all automobile styling enthusiasts and get to know all the ppl in the country that share the same passion and hobby to gather and meet each other and share stories and input.

We want see how large the community in Kuwait is for this distinct yet growing market.

best regards,

Tarek Hankir

Dear Tarek,

it’s wonderful to see you guys organizing such events, from my humble point of view i can tell that you guys failed to promote for the event properly, for example i just knew about it !!

besides you guys must definitely know that a lot of people won’t be able to attend just because of the date issue.

all the best with the up coming events and looking forward for more of such events.

I’m happy event like this are taking place, but I called them when I found out about it and turns out you can’t participate with your car unless you have bought a product from the company SAMCO who represents a few US Brands which are more for looks then performance… There are quite a few uniquely modified cars in Kuwait that wouldn’t be able to participate because of that..

Overall I think they have a great idea, they should have promoted it a lot more and contacted more of the online community to get the word out. I saw that they caused some traffic on the Fifth Ring Road today, it seems to have been the entourage of sorts but hopefully we will see what was done for it from pictures online.. Its their first year, I hope to see more of it to come!

I went to the show last night. Outcome was good and many participants. There were many powerful flood lights around and that made me not want to take many pictures since I do not like to take pics using the flash but with the flood lights I had to!

Marzouq : Funny they rejected your car cause they should have just taking the registration fee of KD20 and let you in! There were a few cars that had nothing to do with SAMCO. I might be wrong though.

When it comes to organizing, I think SAMCO wanted to make it an insider event where only their friends knew. PLUS it wasn’t the first of it’s kind per say. Might be the first one that offered prizes but there are many get togethers, meet ups and modified shows. The sketchy part from last night was when 2 high ranked police officials were walking around looking at cars and one of them was writing something down on a paper that had a blank table and he was filling out the table as he walked.
