The Global Gender Gap Index seeks to measure one important aspect of gender equality: the relative gaps between women and men across four key areas: health, education, economy and politics. This year Kuwait came first among Arab countries coming in 113th place. Although that sounds great, Kuwait came 113th place out of 142 so yes it performed better than Arab countries but is still far behind the rest of the world overall.
On the other hand, UAE ended up coming two places behind at 115 and Saudi Arabia at a lower 130 which is what you would expect. What I didn’t expect though is Lebanon coming in five places lower than Saudi Arabia in 135th place. That’s just messed up. Check out the full report [Here]

Finally first in something good! Haha
Wasn’t expecting that for Lebanon. Turns out women make a LOT less than men over there, one of their lowest scores is for that. The other one is I guess for having 0 women ministers.
Also Kuwait has 2 women for every man in post-high school education? I know the number is skewed but didn’t think by that much.
Considering the recent political turmoils and Lebanon’s complicated sectarian based government, i would not be surprised about their ranking in gender equality.
Women in Saudi have all or at least most of their rights except for driving.
lol
Lol ok
You should check out the World Bank’s “doing business” report. It basically ranks countries based on how easy it is to do business using factors like ease of launching/closing a business, getting construction permits, paying taxes (although I believe we don’t have to worry about corporate taxes and the like? I could be wrong).
Kuwait ranks at 86 out of 189. It’s preceded by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and it’s followed by Lebanon, Iraq (well towards the end lol) and some others. Personally, I don’t think that rank is too bad actually!

You’re very unoriginal, Mark. constantly recylcing things posted on reddit…
ummI don’t check reddit, i only check the subreddit for kuwait and nobody posted there. In any case calling me unoriginal because you saw some other website that wrote about this global gender report is pretty lame.
You realize reddit is just reposts of other sites
