Looking for an apartment?

Over the weekend I found out about a cool real estate website called Masahati that actually works pretty well. There are a ton of websites dealing with real estate in Kuwait but the majority are either outdated, don’t work right or just too complicated to use. Masahati, although doesn’t contain a lot of apartments right now is actually very enjoyable and fun to use.

There are a variety of ways to use the site but I like using it with the map of Kuwait. You scroll around on the map and when there is an apartment for rent it shows up as a 3D icon which you can click and get more info. The search can be customizable and if you don’t like the map view you can flip through available apartments in a list view, thumbnails view or even a photo flow. Hopefully with more exposure they can get more popular and add more apartments. Check out the website [Here]

Update: Here is a link to their facebook group [Link]

Mark,
We are huge fans and are honored to have been mentioned by you. We are working hard to fill the site up with properties and improve the functionality so it can become the best real estate portal in Kuwait.

Thank you!

Wow! Masahati.com looks amazing. Great work guys and I hope the best! This could change Kuwait. The interface is user friendly. I checked q8place up, i think masahati is way ahead of them on the interface. No hate just love! Go Kuwait!

I do agree it is very enjoyable and fun to use; however, the question that should be addressed is it practical? I lived in Canada and I believe Masahati is a copy of http://www.century21.ca, missing the quality of search results found in century21. This website if polished might work in countries like the US, but definately not Kuwait. Have you ever consider the computer literacy level of real estate brokers in Kuwait? They need something much more simpler and easier to use.

Mousa,
Most real estate websites abroad have map searches, so this is new to Kuwait. As for practicality, it seems easy enough to use and agents and owners need to adapt to the new age of the internet in order to successfully expand their businesses. Don’t underestimate them.
As for Century 21, it is completely different since they are world renowned agents who take commission off of their properties. Masahati.com connects searchers directly with the owners/agents, so they are more of an advertising platform. In face, Century 21 could use Masahati to advertise their properties in Kuwait. Like would use a newspaper or a magazine to advertise.

i keep getting “no results found” when ever i search something. tried several different searches but no use

Bu Ziad,

We are a brand new site and only have around 20 properties listed on it. If you broaden your search you will find the properties available. What you can do is register as a searcher for free, save your search criteria, and receive email updates whenever a new property is listed that matches your criteria. We apologize for the inconvenience and hopefully we’ll get a lot more properties on there for our searchers!

Masahati or MySpace in English is by far the best real estate website in Kuwait since they are using the best practices of the most popular MLS real estate US listing websites http://www.roost.com as well as http://www.trulia.com as a reference. trulia by the way is backed by Accel partners which are the guys behind funding Facebook.

However, masahati team needs to change the front page of the site to reduce the load time. The challenge with such portals is that mostly the monetization is add driven which I believe can only become feasible if they target the entire MENA region. The market size in Kuwait is relatively small.

Wish you all the best

Thank you for your feedback Ghassan. Your knowledge of Internet portals is phenomenal!

We know exactly what you mean about a basic landing page in order to allow for more ads and regional expansion to properly monetize the site and increase revenue. Yet we created the site initially for the benefit of the people, as a solution mainly to help property searchers reach those managing, handling, and owning properties easily.

As you suggested, we do look forward to expanding our services regionally, yet Kuwait is our home territory. Kuwait First, MENA second.

Just a note: “My Area” is our translation in English for Masahati, in relation to real-estate.

We always appreciate constructive feedback Ghassan.

Thank you,

The Masahati Team

Thank you for your reply…

Please when you reach a point where you want to expand and need VC funding let me know I might be able to help … as a suggestions go over roost website there are many nice functionality that can be added to masahati… unfortunately the Google street view functionality is not available in Kuwait which would have been nice to add .. Maybe there is a work around for that…

Wish all the best inshalah …

Masahati is great web, I liked the features and inside view of it stunning, can’t say much except keep up the good work, atleast now finding an apartment is easier specially to the foreigners and residence.
