According to Arabian Business, Magnolia Bakery will be opening in Kuwait within the next 18 months. Magnolia are known for their cupcakes but I personally think they have an amazing chocolate swirl cheesecake. Whenever I passed by their New York locations they always had a queue of people lined up outside. In Dubai on the other hand whenever I passed by it was always empty which is obviously a lot more convenient.
So now we’re going to have Magnolia and The Hummingbird Bakery in Kuwait along with Shake Shack. It’s going to be hard to stick to my diet. [Link]

Yet another tired “franchise” finds its way to these shores, long after it has fallen out of fashion (and the original founders sold out and moved on), and just as the cupcake craze fades away around the world with more people discovering every day that cupcakes are (gasp!) fattening!
There are many successful local bakeries in Kuwait and yet some dimwit still thinks there’s room for Hummingbird and Magnolia. And Planet Hollywood.. just had to throw that one in there
local bakeries like Kuwait’s very own (Ha, right) ‘Georgetown Cupcakes’? Embrace the franchise … not the imposters.
Kuwait has some mighty fine local cupcake shops with their own identities (surprise!). Wish them all the best of luck in their endeavors.

Speaking of shake shack it was gonna open in avenues in where pain restaurant was buy I guess it won’t open there anymore do u have any idea about jere it’s gonna open exactly ? Thanx 🙂

Reading the first comment, I do wonder how this hip world renowned bakeries will affect the local business in Kuwait. I mean don’t we have countless home cupcakes businesses. Will they be able to compete with such big names? Competition is always good though. Home businesses might want to bring down prices which is generally kept high keeping in mind the elite segment.
As for the comment that cupcakes are fattening – they say the big word over taking cupcakes is pies and tarts and as far as I know they are no less fattening!
Forgot to mention that the people queueing outside Magnolia in New York are mainly hapless tourists, and people who still watch Sex & The City reruns
