Memoirs of a Geisha Banned in Kuwait

I just read that Memoirs of a Geisha got banned in Kuwait. I wasn’t interested in watching it, but I am curious to why it got the ban. I am also curious to why it was playing in the movies here for a week now, why didn’t they ban it from the beginning? [Link]

What the..? Why? I saw it and it was pretty mild, except for the part where they sell their virginity and stuff. But they don’t show anything.

I saw it movie it’s interesting story. But I think they banned it because as moe stated that it has some moral issues like selling virginity to the highest bidder. And I believe that most here think of Geisha as prostitutes. Nothing more nothing less

weird! i mean there was no real sex bit except when the general’s friend tried to rape her, and then again… you see girls throwing themselves at the americans and drinking etc…..

i loved that movie! but hey I have it on DVD if you want it πŸ˜€

you can get on dvd from hawalli. I just saw it the other day! But its wierd they would ban it! I wish they would stop all this stupid censorship crap! Most of the people coming up with these ideas are idiots!

I think the best solution is to ban them! how bout that! yes yes.. i think that would be good! I will ban most of the idiots in the MoI from existing!!!! hehehehe

What???? I really wanted to watch it! Oh well…guess its going back to my DVD dealer and getting the pirated copies.

You see the trend? They ban movies from being played in public, so it promotes the selling of pirated copies….classic tale of supply and demand πŸ™‚

I think this banning is great and I encourage it! All these movies based on books should be banned in Kuwait and people should spend that money on reading the book.

I appluad the Ministry of Informations actions on promoting reading and self education.

I didn’t like the movie either… It’s one of those that drag on for no reason and have no point to it… Who cares if they ban it, they probably did because it was such a shitty movie.
