Most of Kuwait in the Dark #halablackout

dark

The electricity went off around Kuwait awhile ago around 7:30PM. At first I thought it was just my neighborhood Salmiya but from twitter it looks like the affected areas so far are:

Mishref, Salmiya, Salwa, Surra, Da3iya, Qadsiya, Bayan, Sabah Al-Salem, Mahboula, Jabriya, Riggai, Mubarak Al Kabeer, Fintas, Mangaf, Abu Halifa, Shaab, Hawalli, Arabella and The Avenues.

No idea what caused the blackout but if you’re in the dark and your area isn’t mentioned above let me know. #halablackout

That’s good so we know that people might be “busy” and thusly there might be a population boom in november inshallah πŸ˜‰ jokes aside this blackout power outage is one way of stopping the excessive wastage of resources in kuw8 let alone electricity.

KUWAIT, Feb 11 (KUNA) — A technical problem in one of the main power grids caused a blackout in most areas in the country, Electricity and Water Ministry said Wednesday.
The glitch came for safety reasons and caused the blackout to the electricity network.
The ministry said in a statement to KUNA that currently they’re working to fix the problem and bring back power as soon as possible.

A friend of mine said this, “Power station in sabiya was damaged. They had to shut down the grid for some areas because a fire was spreading and they didn’t want the damage to spread. Power should be back within the hour”

I work at Sabiya Power station, there was NO damage to the power station, heavy sandstorms and above normal humidity conditions caused a short in the overhead transmission lines ~70 kilometers from the station into the desert.

So basically power is not being fed to Kuwait from Sabiya apart from a few other plants that use a different transmission line.

The Airport and areas surrounding it have power because it is priority until the situation can be sorted out.

The power outage that we are experiencing now in Kuwait is the result of Major “disturbance” in power grid according to our MEW Doha Power Station director…. They are having technical problems in one of their four power stations here in kuwait, particularly the one that is located in Subiya.

I was in The Avenues for an opening event and then the lights went off..completely black for about 30 seconds until generator kicked in. People were actually acting civil during the outage. Then traffic on 4th ring was awful because of some accidents.

This is a precursor to an Alien invasion. Its been a nice run for this alopecia suffering Ape. Game over. Kiss your *sses Good bye.

It sucks when u live in the apartment at the 14th floor. the power went off when i was parking my car, I took a nap in car and got home when the power came up. Does that make me Lazy? πŸ™‚

We were driving towards Salmiya clinic when the power blackout happened.
We were in that bylane and suddenly no lights.
Am surprised that there are no power generators in the Clinic.
Hope they take note and install one in the near future
We took a U Turn and went back home.
No Problems in Block 12, Amman Street, Salmiya.
Thank God !

I was running on the beach side towards Salmiya when it happened. Where I live in Bnaid Algar was not affected.

The couples that I came through while running were enjoying their time big time it seemed …
