After driving around Jabriya yesterday street by street trying to find a pet shop and after driving all the way to Fintas even trying to find a place that sells dog, thanks to BusyNow it turns out there was a pet shop just 2 minutes from my house! I past passed by it tonight, its called My Puppy. Its located near Al-Shaab Amusement park behind Texas Chicken. The place had 6 puppies on display which were placed in tiny little cages. One dog, a 6 month old Dogo Argentina was in a cage so tiny he couldn’t stand up or move around. While I was there he didn’t move or bark, he was just lying there depressed. There was a very active 2 month old Cocker Spaniel (not in the picture) who was very playful when we took him out of the cage but was all dirty and stinky. They were all dirty and stinky, the whole place stunk. The pet shop also had a large Iguana in a cage and some mice and crickets for sale. The place was depressing and watching the puppies scream for help from their tiny cages begging take them with us was sad. This place should be shut down, its animal cruelty. Oh and the guy who works there I don’t know where he is from but he neither spoke English nor Arabic.

Isn’t it like a sin to be cruel to God’s creations and torture them?
also, its haram to be around dogs, so why do they bring these little puppies to a country where people regard them as dirty and mistreat them…
Hurting those who have no way of defending themselves on purpose is the most sickening thing in my opinion…
I’ve been to the Firday market animal market thing once and had to leave after 5 minutes because I couldn’t stop crying…
I think the pet shop in Jabriya is somewhere around the gas station area.. Not sure it’s still there though
Man, what you have seen there is normal here. There are many pet shops here in junieh. One oh them I really hate the owener. He has all the puppies in smaller cages and he keeps hitting them and shouting at them, and his shop stinks even if you’re miles away.
my mom has a habit of rescuing animals
we currently have 7 dogs and 4 cats
we just took them in to get them healthy and then give them to good homes but its hard to find people that will take care of a dog in this country.
we have a family of 3 (mother and 2 sons), an Akita (she’s mixed but looks just like an Akita same coloring and all cept she seems a bit smaller), a bichon frise (that ones coming home with me for my fiance) and two other small dogs, one of which was featured in the Arab Times being held by my stepfather a week or so ago.( we wanted to make sure she wasn’t stolen)
I don’t much about the law nor do i know if there even is one against the cruelty of animals but i do know my parents are part of the AFL or Animal Friends League here in Q8 and if anyone is interested in any of the above mentioned animals please post and i can send you some pics and more info
They want me to train all of them but we have too many to train at once and some of them are skiddish so its hard to be firm with an animal thats terrified of you. These animals just need some love and attention.

no PAWS is british run and AFL is run by kuwaiti’s but has alot of americans helping out..as in getting better facilities and such for the animals

PAWS (Protecting Animal Welfare Society, Kuwait)(www.paws-kuwait.org) and AFL (Animal Friends League Kuwait) are not the same organisation, but both do the same hard work : caring for abandoned, sick, hurt animals. Both groups are volunteer driven with people helping from ALL nationalities, who put in many hours per day (and lots of their own money) to help the poor animals in this country. So why go to the Friday Market and buy an animal there? These poor creatures are not being checked out medically and lots of them die within a day or two after being bought (sad, very sad). As long as people buy animals from that awful place, so long they will import. STOP BUYING THERE!!! If you adopt an animal through PAWS or AFL, you will get a healthy, vaccinated and if the animal is old enough, already neutered animal as well. Please, spread the word about caring for animals. Don’t accept cruelty against animals. And if you see that horrible pet shop owner again hitting innocent animals, take action. Believe me, I would like to go and slap him and put him in a cage too small for him. And feed him maybe a piece of bread in 24 hour’s time with no water at all …

last week i get a cute white kitten for my freinds birthday from “my puppy shop” the shop smalls like shit, and there were no electricity or air conditionar i saw this little cute kitten in a dirty cage and i couldnt leave her there in that stinky shop so i took her with me for 70KD , Guess what? today she passed away!! becouse she wasnt eating and we took her to the dr and everything the Dr said that she was too small to be taken from her mother ( 2 month old as my puppy guy told me but I think shes much smaller ), i called the guy who owns my puppy and told him about the story and everything he told me that it was my fault becouse of the weather she passed away! i hope you mark write about this stupid shop and how dirty it is and how rude the guy is not taking care of his animals or customors , he should return my money back but he didnt and blame me for the kitten pass away altough we took her to the hospital and give her everything she needs.

Stop the cruelty , dont buy a pet from a petstore , feel sad for one and pick it up , a few hours later it’s replaced by another one.

hey ppl i guess i just want to vent for a bit, i am from kuwait and live in kuwait i have studied abroad and love animals, i have a 2 yr old PUG ( Chucky) he is the best ever, but i really wanna be able to take him out and have him play with other dogs and just run around a bit, offcourse you cant do that on the beach because you get MESSED UP kids that run after him and bark or meow ..like helloooo no you dont speak dog language …plus you have those others that just look at him and decide to run or look at you like im some kinda wierdo, i tried to contact paws more then once in order for me to go to there activities or know abt there events , but guess what yes the “amaaazing animal rescue group” that is supposed to rescue animals and welcome those who do love animals never REPLY , why am i not surprised ….anyway im sorry ppl but pls if anyone knows of any events where ppl can take there dogs and just have a good day out pls keep me informed. my email is [email protected].

Hi, you know i have a dog too and it’s also hard for me sometimes to take him to public places. So if you ever find out, Mark or “Sigh”, when and where these events are, please let me know.. thanks.
FYI, Animal Friends was called to the ‘My Puppy’ store after it had been closed by the ministry and the owner chose to let the animals inside die of starvation. After several hours on scene, we managed to get the owner to release three of the four remaining dogs to our care. One of them was literally starved to death. They other two were terrified. This is a prime example of why Kuwait needs enforceable anti-cruelty laws. The owner of the shop will go unpunished, even though he caused the agonizing death by starvation of one of God’s creatures. This government will only act if you the people put lawful pressure on them to do so.
Please people do not buy kittens under 3 months of age from pet shops or anyone! I know they look cute but its just too young. Kittens are not like puppies, they need to be with, and learn from their mothers, for at least 12 weeks.
It doesn’t matter how kind you are, you are never going to be a substitute cat mother.
