Yesterday while walking around Muthana Complex I found this really cool Golf store called Golf Me. I hadn’t seen it before and I later found out that it had only been open for 2 weeks now. I went inside and spoke to the owner who was a very nice guy. The first thing I asked him was if there was a Golf course in Kuwait. He told me there was one in Ahmadi thats a sand course, I told him I knew about that but if there was a grass one. Surprisingly he told me there was, a place called the Sahara Golf & Country Club. I then started to get some details about the store and how much it would cost to golf in Kuwait and this is what I found out. Firstly they have this cool setup in the store where you can try golf clubs out and watch your swing replayed digitally on a TV screen. I also found out that they teach golf. For KD70 you get 10 courses and this includes the use of their golf clubs and time on the golf course. If later on you want to buy your own golf club set you can get one for as low as KD150. I forgot to ask how much it would cost to play golf in the Ahmadi course but I did ask about the Sahara Golf & Country club. The owner told me you need to be a member at the country club and its not cheap. Originally when they first opened membership was KD1300 a year, the price then went up to KD1500 and now the price is KD2000, KD500 of which is a one time setup fee. The course is managed by PGA and is 18 holes and 6,700 yards so its not your run of a mill golf course.
Anyway here are some links and pictures related to the above.

ooohhhh… I like! Thanks mark I think im going to go check this place out! Could be interesting! I used to luv going to the driving range for a bit!
Do you golf?
I golfed for 6 years before coming to kuwait and now 2 years without a swing. The memebership is 2000kd which is absurd. Best clubs in dubai are for 4500$ max. which makes the 7000$ in kuwait a killer.
The training lessons cost is pretty decent but that wont get you anywhere without training on daily basis for 4 to 5 days per week.
Tiger Woods, although number 1 in the world, swings a 1000 balls per day for practice.
Imagine that.
Damn thats a lot balls to swing at! lol
yeah 2000KD does seem slightly steep! I think i might go check it out! I wonder how much they charge just to use the driving range!
But the other thing is that dubai probably has lot more customers to cater to then kuwait. I wonder how many members they have listed!
i didn’t know there was a market for golf here in kuwait
wasn’t there a golf course next to entertainment city ? or they demolished it ?
i dont know but the guy told me they will be building another golf course in the area opposte the international vetenerian hospital in ahmadi
oohh that would be cool! as long as it isnt a desert course that would be fun!
I tried the desert course like 10years ago that was place horrible, if you even skim the ground it feels like your wrest are gonna break cuz the swing came to a complete stop!
guy said it would be grass. he said that real golfers dont want all the bells and whistles of a country club, they just want golf and this new golf course will cater to them.
I would love to golf again. I paid too much for my clubs and they are sitting waiting to rust.
Wow that is kinda expensive, outta my student budget man. id love to drive around there when i come back home for holidays and check the place out.
start blogging again !!!
you took a leave from work not blogging.
You know guys when I first found out that there was even a slight chance to play golf in Kuwait, I was so excited about it, its indescribable. But when I heard about the charges at Sahara GCC, it got me pretty upset. I think it is totally unfair to charge people such an insane amount of money to enjoy the game. I don’t live in Kuwait right now, but do plan to return and having brought up there I know that most people can’t afford to pay that kind of money. I plan to return to Kuwait sometime soon and would love to continue my game there. A little request to you guys is that if any one of you guys happen to hear about any other course in Kuwait, which is way cheaper than Sahara, please drop me a line, I would love to hear about it. Thanx for the blog Mark, nice of you to share such an information.
B.T.W, I noticed that one of guys was wondering about the range charges, as it is in my knowledge, thats only available to you if you have reserved Tee time, which are obviously only for members. I know this because I called those guys and asked about it. They said that I should see them when I am in Kuwait, I am sensing they might be able to offer a cheaper deal. How cheap or affordable, won’t find out until I see them. You guys are there, you should definitely find out, and don’t forget to pass it on.
