No more scooters at The Avenues

Not sure how serious the scooter problem was at The Avenues but they’re now banning them. Personally I would rather they focus all their effort on the no smoking policy.

they should say no kid’s riding toys whatsoever … and don’t even get me started on the smoking policy.

how can it be okay for the cafes (Starbucks, Le Pain Quotidien, Dean & Deluca, etc.) to allow smoking in very same areas that are supposed to be smoke free?? Oh wait … maybe cuz those and others are owned by Alshaya … whom basically owns The Avenues. I just want to rip their No Smoking signs down when I see all the ash trays on the tables at those places.

If they make cafes NO SMOKING.. then they lose customers.. they lose business…

its all about the MONEY!

personally … this weekend while going up the escalator … a guy was holding his cigarette and smoking freely, and the smoke hit us… made me realllllly angry … if I talked to him I might get into a fight … just leted it go…

I personally saw this sign, and a kid with a scooter rolling around the place. This policy is not being taken seriously. I would prefer if they would focus on the ‘no smoking’ policy, since its more important.

surprised they used that in the avenues, all i seen are lonely guys running or doing brisk walks with their ipods or walkies. are rollerblades allowed? strange.

I think we should all go on bright pink scooters with loud sirens, smoking Marlboro and go down the alleyways that lead to the toilets, crashing in through those back doors that lead to the restaurant kitchens…..

No, pretty sure the scooter problem is much much worse. At least no one’s ever ran into me with a cigarette, I’ve been smashed into a couple times by those scooters.

Kuwait times special report: Thrill-seeking gangs of merry-making 10 year old locals on deadly scooters, roll around Avenues mall terrorizing their compatriots by SMOKING CIGS IN THEIR FACE! LMAOOO that should be their headline.

I think the scooter problem was really annpying u cant walk and they bumb into u where ever u go now its reallyyyyy waaaaay better thanks for their efforts. But still we need to take smoking off as well

If so many of us feel this way (about smoking and scooters and other annoying behaviors) why doesn’t anything change? How can our voices be heard?

I really wanted to ask u a Question because i was always wondering why is your app called 2:48am? 🙂

With all due respect to everyone here, I am a smoker and …YES! I do smoke in malls where it is permitted or at the coffee shops. At the Avenues however it is a different story, the non-smoking ban is not implemented at all and I do come across hoards of smokers, smoking everywhere. When looking at all my fellow smokers happily puffing away, I must confess that the temptation to pull out a cigarette and light up is very strong. However common sense does prevail and I do manage to do so, or at best head for the closest exit or ventilation machine.

In general I feel that laws and rules are blatantly disregarded in Kuwait by many. What happened to the ban on cell phone use in cars….forget about the general public, I have seen law enforcement in uniform and on their cell phone while driving. Besides this, how many of you non-smokers use your cell phone while driving?????

If people do not adhere to the laws of the country, forget about the Avenues’ and it’s ‘Smoking Scooters Policy’.

very well said. agree smoking is harmful for your lungs and cell phones are bad for your brain nd pocket if u r a cell addict. lets quit both!

Leave smokers alone! Last week Costa at Galeria2000 decided to ban smoking. The policy lasted 36 hours in which they made less than 20% of their average sales. This info is from the local manager there.

I think they must be concerned about the potential danger to the children driving the scooters….

I was about to go POMPEI on some of those snot-nosed rugrats. Hit ME in the leg with your scooter and laugh? Oh HELL NO. Smack…

I think the problem is that rules or even laws here are not implemented…. think about no smoking at the airport, talking or texting while driving…wjo cares…

Question:

Has the no-smoking policy been implemented?
On Saturday, I was there with my family. . noticed one lady sitting in Pinkberry smoking. My husband actually said ,’didn’t they make this place no smoking?’
I guess like the airport, people will continue to smoke when and as they like…
and as for the scooters, im sure the type of parents that let their kids ride these things indoors will have plenty of lip to give the security should they try to stop them…
pfft. i hate how people can’t stick to the rules here.
