No more torrents?

The Ministry of Communications has sent a letter to all the Internet providers in Kuwait to block all the torrent sites. They sent out a list of sites today to be blocked which I am trying to get a hold of. Hopefully my favorite torrent site (I won’t mention the name) is not on that list.

lol what a lame attempt ,trying 2 stop torrents? with the rules and regs in the states… torrents are unmanageable, ur going to tell me they can block the torrent sites? lol proxy4free.com has much to offer 😛
mu favorite torrent sites r mininova rlselog and btjunkie the rest r all crap.
and btw u can download proxy platinum from mininova 4 free .. its basically a small software that incorporates the different proxy servers … untill u find the best 1 4 u

They don’t need any new equipment. They will just add the torrent sites on the list to their “blocked sites” list. According to my contact who works at one of the ISP’s they don’t want to do this and are looking for a way to convince them not to.

I don’t see how they could block BT traffic. You can choose any random port on any BT Clients. As far as torrents, I guess they’ve never heard of any of the thousands of free proxy available online…

if they just block the torrent website its no problem since you can still access them through proxy or something similar but if they were censoring bit torrent traffic like comcast in the states that would be a real hassle..
probably all those cable cuts were just a cover for a bigger thing to screw over all the peaceful file sharers 🙁

They can’t block bit torrent traffic; they can only disable PnP porting which will lead to a dramatic drop in speed when downloading.
But I think allot of people will complain if they do so, since local networking depends Marjory on PnP technology.

I don’t see what all the fuss is about ..
If they block the torrent websites:Use a proxy.
If they block/shape torrents transfers: Use transport encryption

Aside from that .. not much they can do.

Maybe they should give up on trying to micromanage people’s personal activities. You know, things that are of absolutely no consequence to anybody. Perhaps the time wasted on these things could be spent on important stuff like getting the public health system back in shape or fixing the public schools to the kids aren’t fucking retarded. But I guess if that were to happen Kuwait just wouldn’t be the Kuwait we know and love.

They might try to block the sites, but people will still download stuff from the internet no matter what, torrents or no torrents. This is probably a job of some smart ass newbie at the MOC just trying to show-off.

A few months ago MOC tried to centralize the blocking by forcing each ISP to have an MOC based block list, of course that failed cause most ISP never liked it.

Oh Kuwait going from bad to worst by the day.

They couldn’t even illegal software sales at Hawalli. Those idiots don’t get the idea behind the internet I guess.

hey united internet company ( which is near mubarkya ) near villa moda the only company that will not block it cuz its belongs to na9er al9ba7
….im sure about it 99%

Man this is really getting out of hands, WTF can we do?
Segregation at schools, no Alcohol, no Weed, no Torrent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

This is just pure and simple bs. I also just found out about skype being blocked on KEMS. Not sure bout other isps. But skype, for craps sake? Why? How am i supposed to stay in touch with my parents? And the torrent things sucks too…

this is bizzarely strange.. has anyone been able to download torrents (I don’t mean accessing torrent sites, I mean ACTUALLY downloading the torrents) with a KEMS connection? I called the great people there and they say, no sir! your connection seems to be working perfectly fine, we don’t block anything… since the last 3 days I haven’t been able to download anything using utorrent…
