Pictures of Kuwait Towers fireworks

In addition to the videos of the fireworks I posted about earlier, Cajie a photographer posted some great shots of the fireworks display in his flickr page which you can see [Here]

Update: Here is another link to photos taken by Bu Yousef. My favorite one is below. [Link]

I thought so too, but that had second thoughts on my ‘thought’ since its 50 years.

Sad I left Kuwait at the wrong time (-.-)

The show was magnificent! Unfortunately I ended up watching it on KTV as the roads were far too crowded to reach, but the KTV footage was great as well. I’m hoping someone would upload high resolution version similar to to the one we saw on TV.

Quick update before the upcoming events:

Saturday 26th Feb:
6th ring road will be closed in preparation for the military parade. It will be closed starting from Sulaibiya road till Messila bridge starting from 8am till 12 noon. It will be opened until 2:30pm where it will close again until 5:00pm.

Sunday 27th Feb:
In preparation for the carnival on the gulf road, the road will be closed from the intersection with the 3rd ring road till the intersection with the British Embassy (where is this?). Time will be from 12 noon till the end of the carnival. All parking lots will also be closed with the exception for Green Island parking lot which will be dedicated to the elderly and disabled only.

About Sunday’s carnival:
It will include cars from 92 different government and private sectors. The carnival will start after lunch time (I’m guessing after Aser prayer or so?) till sunset. It will start from Marina Mall all the way till Kuwait towers. The cars themselves will remain parked for 3 days at the Kuwait Towers for people to watch. Seating areas will be provided so that people can watch the carnival. Special areas for the disabled will also be allocated. Furthermore, there will be designated parking areas for people who are attending the carnival as well as buses to transfer people from the parking lots to the seating areas. At the Kuwait Towers, a 2 kilometer long flag of Kuwait will be on display. (This carnival is supposed to be similar to the ones we had back in the 70’s and 80’s and is supposed to be BIG so make sure you come to watch).

…The Kuwait Voluntary Work Center will be present to guide people to the seating areas as well as provide any assistance. They will also be providing beverages and water to the attendees. The cars that will be in the carnival are supposedly well decorated and designed and should be a great show.

Special thanks & appreciation Mark, for keeping the National Day’s fever around. For all the updates etc. You will be among the very few bloggers around keeping up the spirit. Cheers!

@Bu Yousef, great shots too!

@Othman Al-Othman, thanks for the road updates. Was about to hit the 6th ring topday morning. Got saved right there! Thanks.

This year was BIG! Mashallah it was awesome! My heart had been broken at the news of the rse in crimes last year and the discovering Kuwait’s even darker sides but this year washed all that misery away, its awesome. May every misery and darkness slide away from this country and may it stay the safe haven it once was.

605, DONT FORGET THEM … THEY WERE MOTHERS, DAUGHTERS, FATHERS, SONS, BROTHERS, SISTERS, FRIENDS,CHILDREN TAKEN AWAY AND NEVER TO BE HEARD OF. KUWAITS P.O.W.’S … PLEASE PRAY OR THEIR FAMILIES.

Thank you Cajie and Bu Yousef for some astounding photos. I was sad I missed this, couldnt think of getting stuck in the traffic, but your pics made it all worthwhile. Thank you Mark for posting.
Mabrook Kuwait!

Tareq Elaryan just announced on the ‘weekend show’ that the Carnival tomorrow would start @ 3.30pm on the Gulf Road.
FYI 🙂

I’m getting several different answers from the organizers regarding the carnival.

What they all seem to agree on is that Gulf road will close from the British embassy intersection (Sour street near Kuwait towers) until the 3rd ring road intersection from 12 midnight tonight. Then the rest of the gulf road from 3rd ring road until Haroon Al Rasheed intersection from 12 noon on the 27th. The entire section will reopen once the carnival ends.

They also said the carnival will actually be from Haroon Al Rasheed street (near Shaab Park I believe?) until Kuwait Towers. I dunno why they said marina mall the first time.

Yes, Haroun does seem more likely.. but I read the following this morning! how can we ever be sure??

Thankyou for sharing all the information. Is the Carnival starting 3.30pm or earlier? Please post any update or change regarding the Carnival starting time.

Thanks to his Highness the Amir for Spectacular event at the Kuwait Towers And also a personal thank you to his His Highness Sheikh Jaber Khalid Al-Jaber Al-Sabah the Minister of Interior for banning Foam cans. Really felt great knowing that this year the roads and the celebration were clean. Hope the same happens in 2012.
