Pizza Rustica: It’s not all that

I passed by Pizza Rustica tonight at the Avenues after reading some positive reviews about it on a couple of blogs. Supposedly they have the best pizza in Kuwait but I don’t think that’s true. Firstly I had a hard time finding a pizza I liked, my usual favorite is ham (veal) with olives and mushrooms but I managed to kinda solve that by ordering a mushroom pizza and asking for olives as an extra topping. Well the pizza turned out to be fairly decent but nothing close to being the best pizza in Kuwait. I didn’t like the taste of the tomato sauce and the cheese was also not that great. Pizza Rustica is owned by Alshaya who also own Pizza Express and Al Forno both of which make better pizzas I think. The service on the other hand was pretty good but that’s not enough to take me back. Want a good pizza while at the Avenues? Then pass by Al Forno instead or even Le Notre.

Haha. So it WAS you and Nad at the Avenues today. I had a feeling that couple (you) was you guys. Haha. Im good.

When will you be done with the burger challenge? We want a pizza challenge and a blood test please ๐Ÿ˜›

“Supposedly theyโ€™re supposed”?!!

Language! Language!

It’s either..

Supposedly they have…

or

They’re supposed to have…

No charge for this one ๐Ÿ˜‰

mark i agree %100 with what u said about the tomato and the cheese. so what do u think is the best pizza in kuwait?

Well… you have to be a fan of Harrod’s Pizzeria to like Rustica, that a first! And secondly… Marzouq is right X-P

try eating their during a weekend or on a busy night OMG their service is BAD!! I’ve been there twice…once on a weekday and we were the only table yet it took them forever to serve us…Ofcourse being me I complained but no one has even apologized!

the 2nd time my friends dragged me for lunch which was an owful experience regarding service as well….Their pizza is OK! but not that great….

Oh and their pizza is nothing like Harrodโ€™s Pizzeria!! I heard something about Alshaye bringing the same chef? It can’t be…..At least that’s what I think

Its the same chef ๐Ÿ™‚ You can ask to see him! I tell you its the same… I eat in Harrod’s Pizzeria a lot ๐Ÿ˜‰

People here sometimes tend to make things seem impossible or nag a lot 3ala aqal shay! They are hard to please and satisfy

the best pizza:

1 khoboz Irani
mozzerala cheese
tomato sauce
and any other ingredient you want….be creative

Spread the sauce on the khoboz, add the cheese, add any other ingredient just don’t go crazy, add some more cheese, then sprinkle some oregano on top.

place in the oven for a few minutes on high heat…….wallah!

Tweez is right… and Pizza Express went downhill a month after they opened their first branch. Their pizzas are soggy and bland

And yes it’s time for a Pizza Challenge… or is the Burger Challenge still on?

hmmm no mark i have to disagree with u here…

pizza at lenotre? i hail it as worst pizza in q8 …not so good
il forno is almost bad as well..

i agree their pizza is not the best pizza in Q8… but at least it registers as a pizza

if i would eat pizza here, i would go to three places only

Nino (funghi pizza)… though its more like a sandwich than a pizza
Pizza express
or
Nolita pizza for joey on friends moments

Maybe itโ€™s not a GREAT pizza, but a fairly descent one. But surly much better than the junk pizza they serve at Pizza Express or Al Forno.

Al Forno started with a good pizza but the quality seems to go down with time.

Can any one name THE BEST pizza in Q8?

I agree with u, the pizza is not that much!!! the cheese is not fresh at all and the pizza is so oily and heavy! like ur eating a whole pizza in one slice !but the salads seems better

I agree that Alforno’s pizza is MUCH better!
I am a great fan of Alforno. Their service and food is really good.
Their pizza is THE best Italian pizza in Kuwait… and I enjoy the rest of their dishes as well.

The cheese is so rubbery I could have patched my flat tires. I suppose Alshaya thinks Kuwaitis are so dumb they will eat anything, rubber included. Have they ever heard of Fiore Di Latte Mozzarella ? How about San Marzano tomatoes ? Or even high gluten flour? A proper wood burning (not combo) ovens ? Whoever think’s its the same as Harrod’s either has alzheimers or busted taste buds.

good pizza = italos and lenotre and the italian rest. at courtyard has the best caprese pizza

rustica was not goood food nor good service.. i like that u can sit outside but thats abiut it im never going there again they have the worst ravioli..

yes yes yes! i agree that the alforno at marriott courtyard (open for many years so has first dibs to the name) has the best caprese pizza and possibly the best pizza overall in kuwait. la piazza has declined in quality but still good (try margherita with onions). thanks for the heads up guys. i’ve decided not to go to rustica with its scam name and bad service. shame on them.

ok had lunch there today and i have to say that the pizza is quite good but far from the best. the menu is limited, though, since it is mainly a pizzeria and not much else. also restaurants in kuwait are becoming just way to expensive. we’re going to be ahead of hong kong in no time!

im actually looking forward to going and eating at pizza rustica just cause one of my dads friends who is italian actually tried almost every pizza in kuwait and decided pizza rustica is the best yet. so i think ill follow an italian’s points of view as he did live in italy and he knows wut a pizza should taste like =)

After having lived in Naples for several years, I would say that Pizza Rustica is not only the best pizza in Kuwait, but is also the best pizza I’ve eaten outside of Italy.

brooke – that’s quite the endorsement for rustica. i think the place is great when its on top of its game but, as with a few other ‘good’ places in kuwait, consistency can sometimes suffer and the customer feels that they’re taking a gamble on any particular day.

the last few times, however, its been good although i have not been there in at least a month or two. definitely on the list.

i also suspect that, based on my experience, there are phenomenal pizza places all over the world but you just have to find them as many don’t advertise and few people know what a good, authentic pizza should taste like.

Tried Pizzeria Amami in Salmiyah….probaly the only authentic pizza in Kuwait. All staff Italian. Small location but very tidy
