Police brutality at the Doha port?

I found this video on YouTube which is supposedly of Kuwaiti policemen beating up some Iranian drug traffickers at the Doha port. The video is very low quality so it’s very difficult to confirm that these are actually Kuwaiti policemen and that this actually happened at the Doha port. The policemen in the video above though are wearing flak jackets that are very similar to the local police. I also have no idea if this video is recent or not. [YouTube]

Update: replaced the video with a slightly better quality one

It’s very hard to tell what is what but the big picture here is “POLICE BRUTALITY” is everywhere not only in can check the youtube and you will find its international

بغض النظر اذا كانوا قادمين الكويت تسلل أو معاهم مخدرات أو أي شيء آخر

المفروض يتعاملون وفق القانون

حسبي الله ونعم الوكيل

1.The video is not clear with low quality.
2. You can’t confirm it is Kuwait police.
3. You can’t confirm it happened in Doha port.
4. You don’t know if it is recent or old.
5. We can’t confirm they are Iranies.

And let us suppose that these are Kuwaiti police beating up Iranians we don’t know the reason for it. Maybe they are traffcing drugs. Maybe they didn’t respond to Kuwaiti orders to surrender and idetify themselves. Maybe they are in Kuwaiti water illegally. Maybe they shoot fire on Kuwaiti police.

So why you are posting this video with this title “Police brutalilty at Doha port” with Arabic title
تعذيب الايرانيين في الكويت
when the local scene is boiling between Sunnis and Shittes. What is the reason for posting this?

q80: This has nothing to do with religion and not sure why you want to quickly turn it into Sunnis vs Shiites. This is just a video I found on YouTube and thought was worth sharing.

@q80.. I’ve always felt that mark likes sharing or bringing bad stuff in Kuwait to the public.. like drunk kuwaiti police dancing that happens to be one in a million and many other stuff that makes us look bad.

Taz: And some people feel that I like sharing and bringing out only the good stuff about Kuwait.

It’s not possible to please everyone but luckily that’s not my job. My job is just to post random topics that I think would be of interest to my readers.

Sometimes you might find a post you don’t like and sometimes you might find a post you do like. If you find something you don’t like then just come back the next day and you might find something you do.

Q8 ALL IN ONE: Absolutely I agree, I’ve learned from previous mistakes to be very clear with my posts which is why I highlighted all the things that are not clear in this video so that no one gets misled. Thanks for the support.

Guys im not talking behalf of Mark here but he only copied something someone posted in Youtube you guys should follow that guy on youtube with his stupid post not Mark.

@Mark: i told you before man if you eat Shawerma from and make good comments about Marroosh you will be just fine …

(^_^)

Mark is a good guy never thought he talk bullshit about Kuwait

You post something negative and you get complaints.
You post something positive and you still get complaints.
And people complain that YOU complain alot.

That cop with the stick.. whatever it is that peeved him off.. i wouldn’t want to do or be anywhere near it !
lighter note….some of the malls would love to have him on their security payroll!

if they are drugs smugglers or infiltrating like most of them do and have done and bred like rats in this country then i would like to join the party 🙂

Its weird how some people in this country think Kuwait is the perfect land! Over sensitive, naive or in absolute denial ?! Kuwait like any other land has its good sand bads. Good cobs bad cobs, good men bad men, good husbands bad husbands, good girls bad girls, good wives bad wives. In general good human beings bad human beings! IF ANY ONE OF YOU KUWAITIES WHO’S SPREADING THE IDEA OF THE IMPOSIBILITY OF THIS COB TO BE A KUWAITI, ill say open the window and have a deep breath. Open your eyes and ears and accept the sheer idea of Kuwait like every single thing in this life NOT PERFECT. only then .. we will have the clear vision to FIX and be better.

Mark, you can’t ignore how your readers interpret your posts. Unless you don’t care to lose these readers. I see some angry comments and I understand where they are coming from. Don’t be naïve to social and political issues surrounding us. This video obviously caused a stir even though you might not have meant it. No need to put yourself in such a position especially when you don’t know anything about the video.
As for the violence in the video, I believe even if those guys were drug traffickers, I don’t see the need for violence since they were not resisting arrest. Whatever country those police men belonged to, I’m sure they have a judicial system that will deal appropriately with the traffickers. In KSA for example, they will get executed.

bu ziad: I am not ignoring my readers but you have to keep in mind that my blog doesn’t talk to 1 or 5 people, its talking to thousands and from those thousands there is going to be at least a few that will misread what I wrote, misinterpret what I wrote or just not like what I wrote because I wrote it.

The thing people need to keep in mind in the end is that unless I say something then I didn’t say it. If people somehow interpret the video above as something funny, thats how they interpreted it and not how I presented it. There is a difference.

Mark, you wrote in your post that you were not sure if those were Kuwaiti policemen or if this event was in Doha port which allows you to now say “unless I say something then I didn’t say it.” Again, you are being naive by not realizing that your post actually did say a lot even though “you didn’t say it” 🙂

bu ziad, my post did say a lot but it was all information I wrote so people aren’t misled. If you feel I wasn’t clear enough in my post please tell me what to amend and I would be more than glad to fix it.

Mark, I’m only suggesting that in order to maintain your popularity, it’s better that you stay away from posts that may cause animosity because of sociopolitical issues. It’s just a friendly advice and surely you are free to write what you wish.

bu ziad if it was up to me I would just post about burgers all day long 🙂

But sadly I can’t do that since I can’t watch a video like this and not post about it. I feel I have a responsibility to share this stuff with my readers.

I am not understanding what the whole scene her in the comment area is about, the responsibility lies on the person who uploaded it and labeled it with “Kuwait policemen”, not on a blogger who came across it and couldn’t but share it to raise awareness. These things (brutality) happen everywhere and ESPECIALLY in countries that consider themselves civilized. Anyway whatever Mark or any other blogger does will not always have everyone’s approval. Some might be sensitive because he is not Kuwaiti, As a non-Kuwaiti myself I can feel he loves Kuwait as much as his home country if not more. That’s why you all come back day after day to check out his posts.
And Mark, speaking of burgers, what happened with your search of the best burger in Kuwait? I never got to know if it ended or not 🙂

Drug traffickers, that sums it all, to me anything goes with them. What they are trafficking is deadly and ruined countless life’s and families.

You call it brutality, I call it pay back.

First of all, I don’t think Kuwait is a perfect place and if you want me to list the bad things and the things that I hate in Kuwait I will have the longest list.

Second, actually I will be really happy and will really enjoy this video if someone can confirm that these guards are Kuwaities beacause that means that they are doing there job by saving Kuwait and punishing intruders and people doing illegal stuff. Well done Kuwait coastal guard if you are the ones in the video.

The disgusting thing in this (video, video’s title, Mark’s title, Mark’s lack of certain definite inforamtion) is that it pictures Kuwait as doing something against human rights and specially towards Iranies which some people will take advantage of later on. This video is bullshit and wouldn’t cause anything if it is on youtube, but if THE MOST VISITED BLOG IN KUWAIT posts this video then it causes problems even if only ONE PERSON misunderstands it and believe that Kuwaities are doing something bad to Iranies, which is actually not the case.

I certainly believe that Mark did that unpurposely but the lack of his local and regional political knowledge caused that misjudgement:)

People should understand that this is a Blog and not a Newspaper or National TV and he described that it’s not sure if it’s Kuwait or not. anyways I think the main point is that we should be against violence to whoever it is, there are laws ,courts and prisons.

q80, if those were Kuwaiti policemen, they would have handed over the criminals to the law for prosecution in which case they did not have to beat up the criminals since they were not resisting arrest. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
As Kuwaitis, we strive to be a civil country with law and order. We have laws to deal with such matters in a civil manner. Unfortunately though, an alarming phenomenon of taking the law into one’s own hand has developed in recent years which is one of the reasons why we are not advancing as a society. Actually we are going back (full speed).
Question: In what country do people attack a police station because a member of its family is held under arrest?
Answer: In an uncivil country.
We don’t want to be like that and we don’t want police to take matters into their own hands either. So don’t be too proud of their actions in the video (that is if they were actually Kuwaiti Police).

Don’t know who’s actually worse, the police in the video or the people saying this shouldn’t be posted because of cultural sensitivity?

Beating drug traffickers is not a way to stop drug trafficking. Its not like you are stopping the people growing the stuff or the guys that are paying them to take the drugs.

Not sure why people think this is a good idea. What’s next? Beat the drug addicts?

No one has yet to force someone to take drugs. Like Chris Rock says, “Drug dealers don’t sell drugs, they offer drugs.” All you have to do is say no.

I guess that’s too hard for people – so now we end up with alleged policemen beaten alleged drug “dealers”.

Those are not Kuwaitis, they have big “police” on their back, Kuwaiti Coast Guards dont wear that sign. Judging by the Accent I’d say they’re from UAE or Qatar. Though I wouldnt be surprised if something like that happened in Kuwait.

You know what I find more disturbing; beating up the innocent until proven guilty? or the fact that some people are justifying these inhumane actions. As someone pointed out above, 2 wrongs dont make a right.

can you say primitive thinking…SO they’re drug traffickers so they should be brutalized? lets chop there heads off, and while we’re at it, burn witches! to stat off No cop has the right to brutalize any suspect. Thats why you can sue there asses in western countries. second, beat a rapist, a murderer a child molester, yeah maybe…but no one forces you to take drugs, so lets not all sound like a broken record out of the prohibition era…drug against war is bull shit, spend money to educate kids about it and maybe they’ll have a bit more common sense..but yeah lets all just applaud the corrupt system..

I dont see anything wrong with Mark posting about this topic. He mentions that he isn’t sure if it is in Kuwait, and for the Mark’s title, it states that he doesn’t know where it is. It is the title of the video that states it is Kuwait Police.

Anyways… instead of bashing Mark for posting it, why not research the whole topic and find out if it is actually in Kuwait or not. He isn’t the one that is giving Kuwait a bad name, from what I can see, all Mark did was just raise awareness to a video posted on Youtube which gives Kuwait a bad name. You should all thank him, otherwise, none of you would have even noticed the video and see what is shown on the internet about Kuwait Police on Youtube.

It seem that you guys still didn’t get it, Mark is just trying to point up something he saw on youtube might be worth discussion, but it seems that people are taking it too personal here.

why as if this shit does not happen anyway, I’m saying this with full confidence that there is much worst stuff happen in Kuwait or any other country but people refuse to admit it, if you hate what going on start changing yourself people and then maybe, maybe hatters will stop talking bullshit.

Bottom-line: Mark is just trying to tell us what he saw not what he likes about the subject or hate that matter alone is for the readers to decide.

God Bless us all and God Bless Kuwait

There are alot of people that are blowing this post out of proportion.

Think about this as you are sitting there and reading the post; you are safe due to the hard work that many Kuwaiti law-enforcers place and yes there are times when police do use some form of force in Kuwait but the people who usually deserve the pain get it one way or another! I admit that every problem that occurs in Kuwait doesn’t get dealt with but at least the main ones like drugs and adultry do! Read the newspaper and the next time you see a person caught with drugs; what do you think happens to him?? I am sure he is not left to roam the streets!

If i were doing something wrong I would expect to get the beating I deserve!

Some people who comment here to get a life and take a lesson or two on “how to think using a functioning brain”.

All Mark wanted to know was if it was true or not?

He might have wanted to clear your “coast guard’s” reputation but needs someone to post reliable sources to do so, because clearly, someone on youtube is indicating that your coast guards are acting like sadistic barbarians.

They should have beaten them even harder. That was nothing the way he beat him with the stick. Let them be thankfull !! Bringing illegals in the country is intolerable.

Honestly this video doesn’t really show who are those, where this is, why are the guys getting brutally beaten.. But I know 1 thing for sure, if these were drug smugglers doing bad in ‘any’ country, the least they should get is this kind of beating.. If it was up to me I’d probably just throw them out at sea and late fate decide.. Beating them up takes too much effort, sending them to jail can be expensive!!

The Kuwaiti Godfather wth bro? Kuwaiti law enforcement authorities are as useless as a sixth toe. There are many studies that link crime to poverty and since we barely have any poverty, especially amongst the biggest demographic in the country (Kuwaitis) I find no reason to thank law enforcement for anything because the crime rate is insignificant and the only law the police in Kuwait are good at enforcing, is fining guys for having stickers on their cars, they’re also very good at making the process of obtaining a drivers license as corrupt and fraudulent as ever.

@ TheRex

I didn’t say all Kuwaiti law enforcement authorities are good but I said there are quite a few that are getting the job done!! It is true that there is corruption amongst the law enforcers but this is going to change and I hope its sooner than later!

@The Kuwaiti Godfather
“but this is going to change and I hope its sooner than later!” – WHO is going to bring about this Change?

@ Essa Behbehani
You are so Right !!!

@ Nael .
if you want every and each reader of this blog go ur or MARK’s way and agree on every thing you or MARK say then u or mark really shouldnt have made a blog with a COMMENT function on it .
and if someone doesnt agree with you that doesnt mean they dont know how to think using a functioning brain . therefore my friend YOU need to get a life 🙂

moral : think before you do.
Mark love your blog buddy HOWEVER I think you outta think about the skeptics there before you put up anything specially when your not entirely sure of the material.
Pety things as such believe me can seriously stereotype an entirely Kuwaiti society and as someone here rightly said you have rotten lots in every corner of this globe – developed / under-developed.

Just my humble opinion 😉

Gawd!! All the man did was put up a YOU TUBE video titled Kuwait Police and he very clearly mentioned he wasnt even sure whether they were Kuwat police or even if it was in Doha Port. Wow you would think that those who could actualy read ABC would understand this and not accuse Mark of trying to stir up secretarian trouble or Promote Anti-Kuwait views. In case any one has forgoten the guy was born in this country and has on numerous occasion on this very blog shown his love for this country;not to forget the numerous occasions he has shown how beautiful this country and its people are. If you want a reminder check out his old posts about all the old photos of this beautiful country, his schooling, KWT Airways the golden era and so on. And on another note I think Mark is quite responsible on all his posts and always is willing to correct any error if that error is substantiated. Keep doing what you do Mark. I got your back anytime.

Pick a life guys its a video and its old, it doesnt show if they r Kuwaity or not although they speak bedwen, so might be Suadi, Qatari, Kuwaiti.

As someone here said maybe because ur famous and many people read ur blog that means u should post good stuff to reflect the image of the city ur living in 😀
