Prada coming back to Kuwait

Prada and Miu Miu are finally coming back to Kuwait again and this time they’re opening up at 360 Mall. Both brands were previously located at Villa Moda but ended up closing down along with the other brands.

Note: I think the location of the Prada store will be in front of Bottega Veneta near Burberry. That location seems big enough and it would be located in a strip that’s currently occupied by Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent as well.

Update:
Got some more information regarding this. Prada signed a regional partnership with UAE based Al-Tayer Group and they are the ones who are bringing Prada and Miu Miu to Kuwait. As I predicted the Prada branch is going to open opposite Bottega Veneta while Miu Miu is going to open next to Marni. My guess is they might be open by the end of the year or early 2012.

Why did Villa Moda close down? Did it just maintain the Dubai location?
PS. There is a big banner at the Avenues that states that there is a non-smoking policy in the mall, but I don’t see it being enforced. Are Starbucks locations smoking zones?

Haven’t you ever been to an outlet anywhere else in the world? Designer brands don’t sell previous seasons fashion once the season is over hence the dramatic price cut. 80% was on 2 season old stock and not the last seasons.

That’s not true, it’s bullshit stuff people forward by BB and naive people fall for it. If Sheikh Majid was selling fakes at Villa Moda you think the brands would still be doing business with him? Unless you also believe brands like Gucci or Bottega are accomplices as well…

Again thats not true, this is another example of how rumors get spread.

All the brands have teamed up again with Sheikh Majid who’s teamed up with Tamdeem. Why do you think all the brands that were open at Villa Moda are now opening up at 360?

The only brand I think that Sheikh Majid didn’t get again was D&G which Alshaya took I believe.

I want AlShaya to do a discount airline carrier in Kuwait because with the loss of Wataniya there is a gap in the market. I want a hip, young carrier like JETBLUE out of NYC which will give FLYDUBAI a run for it’s money and be stiff competition for ALJAZEERA. I may run it out of Dubai not Kuwait, but build a separate terminal in Kuwait with all AlShaya franchises. How about grabbing a Shack burger before your flight. Again UPBEAT, HIP and YOUNG, it will rattle the airline market in the Mideast. Listening AlShaya family???

Why doesn’t the 360 mall pump it up a bit? I feel like it is a high-end mall in a cemetary. I hate going to that mall – maybe they need to address the lighting or have some promotional entertainment in the mall, just pump it up a bit and it might help their sales.

Ladies segment of high end fashion in Kuwait is adequately catered to but there is a dearth of luxury fashion for men in Kuwait.

Something which, Al Othman, Al Ostoura and VM between them, need to tap into.

They were because of their prices. That was the problem. They were protraying themselves as a luxury carrier, but were competeing against the prices of FLYDUBAI and JAZEERA, they were schizophrenic. I once paid only 6 KD to fly to Dubai – that is a discount carrier. I loved Wataniya and was a dedicated client, but their marketing was off. There is room for another discount carrier in this market, just don’t have enough space to justify it. I would like someone to rattle the market and this idea could fly with some 320 OER’s and an upbeat vibe.

To da Prada prostitute their is an abundance of luxury brands for men in Kuwait in fact more than the market needs from Armani to Versace, to Burberry and many more even very high luxury has been avialable for decades now such as Canali,Zegna, and Brioni just to name a few its just not as advertised like womens fashion. Plus Kuwait is a small market with a small population where almost half wears traditional clothes most of the time

Did you mean AlTayer from Dubai? You destoyed their name!! They have Bloomingdales and Harvey Nichols agency in Dubai which I believe Harvey Niks is coming in the Phase 3 new addition of the Avenues? I hope they will also include additional parking in this project because the customer flow with dramatically increase, smart project. I find few examples of common sense in the Kuwait market, but this Phase 3 will corner the mall market. Maybe AlShaya should run Kuwait.

Mark… Sheikha Moza of Qatar closed the Villa Moda branch there because of counterfeit products. Also, a few years back I’ve seen some pictures of containers from China to Villa Moda.
If those aren’t enough… I’ve seen some models there that did not seem authentic (personal experience of feel and touch.)

Seeing containers from China to Villa Moda means nothing. Do you realize that Villa Moda had numerous amounts of brands in there. Lets not forget Jeans Bar which had denim brands like Se7en jeans and Rock and Republic – I’m pretty sure those denims were made in China..

Thanks for the info, mate!
Didn’t actually know there are stand alone boutiques of Canali, Zegna and Brioni for the metrosexual brigade in K-town.
What’s mind boggling is you have all of these luxury stores spread out on a very tiny rug, in what is clearly not a luxury tourist destination (and won’t be anytime soon).

I have also often wondered why it is that more women than men in Kuwait look up to Western apparel and design when the both of them are equally well traveled and informed.

‘Tis a pity many small and medium size boutiques and fashion stores in Kuwait had to fold up in the wake of the mass flight of the Palestinian and Jordanian diaspora from Kuwait. I have it on reasonably good authority, several businesses in the apparel segment were hit hard with the overnight disappearance of a clientele for Western mens wear in Kuwait: pinching their bottomlines where it hurts most. I used to love the smell of such stores as Wajeh, Al Mansourein, Al Mahatta, Moustache among others – still do. They are something else. But I guess, the dynamic of and consumption for Western mens wear in Kuwait has forever changed.
