Someone in Kuwait is selling 4 white extremely rare white Asian cubs on Bayt.com. These are Asiatic Lions which are classified as ‘Critically Endangered’ (an estimated 350 left in the world) and classified under appendix 1 of CITES. (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species). Kuwait has been a fully signed-up member of CITES since 11th November 2002 therefore the local authorities have a legal obligation to act.
I hope someone reading this can contact the right people. I also don’t understand how bayt.com is allowing the sale of these endangered animals on their website. Hopefully they will collaborate with the authorities by helping them catch the guy. Here is a link to the sale ad [Link]
Thanks Andy

hope they don’t get bought by some lousy rich guy that would probably get bored of them and toss’em in the desert for Bedouins to come and torcher them or worse keeping them…
and WOW 500kd for 4 very rare white lion cubs…
freaking huskies are more expensive here
hold on just a minute :/ i don’t think it’s as bad as it sound, they said they’re for “adoption” and “vaccinated and home raise”. though i believe the pictures they posted are NOT for the real cubs but it would be better to consult authorities first. and you can also “Report Abuse” if you have Bayt account.
Submitted the info to the proper authorities already ๐ These are not the kind of pets that you can keep around, not when they are endangered.
but seems that they dont have any bad intentions towards them as he’s putting them for adoption
Its a small world. We moved home recently and the guy who moved us was telling my husband that he had recently transported white lion cubs from the airport to a kuwaiti home and that he brings a lot of rare animals into the country. Adam how can it not be a “bad thing” these are not pets, they cannot be tamed and belong in the wild. And Majed you are completely naive if you believe the seller has no bad intentions. the bad intention started the moment he illegally brought them into the country. The outcome for these animals is devastating, they have no future. They will either be released into the desert or shot when they become too hard to handle. I think its outrageous that this goes on.
cubs selling is apparently the new habba! where did the fact that it’s a WILD animal evaporate into?
and not only are they selling normal boring orange ones… naah the new thing is selling the white ones… where did they come from? they must have had parents… at least a mother! where is she? How is she breeding? did she marry a normal tiger and get white cubs? or there are actually a couple somewhere…
what if they “accidentally” become loose? and eat people? shino hal fawtha!!!
Danderma…These are Asiatic Lions not Tigers and they are white lions which are extremely rare…
i think @Danderma meant it’s the new habba because of things like this…

For sure this news is very disturbing.
hey, the guy is selling them, or adopting, whatever, if you wanna do something about it, buy them and take take them to a shelter… bitching on an online forum is not going to get you any where…
if hes selling all of them for 500, then its fake… ive seen cats sell for more than that
500 KD for rare cubs? and sell them in kuwait? lol this hilarious, but I think the asian guy dyed them and sprayed those african cubs really good
what the hell is going on? is this some kind of new “habba”?? A couple of weeks ago we saw posts about tigers being sold and now this?? y do ppl feel the need to buy such animals?
They need to be put in a zoo or wildlife refuge!
I just mailed endangeredspecies.com. Hopefully they can help if this story is true.

How Cute!!!!
The next time you see something like this contact Animal Friends League. They are the organization in Kuwait that is most likely to do something about this; unfortunately governmental organizations don’t do their job and won’t respond.
Buying them, even with good intentions of handing them over to a shelter, is the wrong thing to do because the seller would be profiting from the sale and encouraged to do it again.
No news so far…
@Haitham:
“unfortunately governmental organizations donโt do their job and wonโt respond”
This is so true. However, the more incidents like this that go by without action on their part, the more pressure will be applied by the other countries who signed up to CITES when they meet. (Kuwait has been fully signed up for over 7 years).
This is why it is still important to get these things out there in the public domain.
As for buying them, you are 100% right. NEVER buy illegally trafficked animals – EVER.
Any updates…. did anyone manage to do something about it? by now the “seller” probably removed the ad in bayt in order to keep himself from being caught.
Any update on this anyone? Did anyone take a screenshot of the Bayt page?
I know that not much would ever be done unless more people make an uproar. Perhaps put an email address of a certain organization so many people can petition that some action be taken?
And Carol who commented above, if it’s really that outrageous maybe you could give the information of the guy who traffics the animals illegally to someone who could do something about it? PETA?
mark andy if you do have the contact of this guy i am willing to buy these cubs … thank you reply asap
Thanks Haitham. That’s right. This trade of illegal animal smuggling has to stop and K’SPATH are working to make that happen. Did you know that a third of today’s wildlife is in danger of extinction, and a major cause of this, second to destruction of habitat is the illegal smuggling trade.
To anyone thinking of purchasing an exotic animal, you aren’t just taking one animal from the wild. Poachers will kill the mother to get to the baby, which is easier to smuggle. That baby, if it survives the journey, then survives in its new home, will never see another of its species ever again, so you can say goodbye to procreating. So now, the mother is dead, the baby is living out of its natural habitat, and the number of babies it would have gone on to reproduce is no more.
Next time anyone thinks about buying an exotic animal just so they have something to brag to their friends about, go out and get yourself a diamond encrusted Ferrari or something instead. Just leave the animals alone.
Of course this must be reported to any and all authorities who might possibly investigate and stop anyone actually is selling lion cubs or any other wild animals.
But most likely this is a scam.
Anyone who would consider buying a lion cub for a pet is stupid. Baby lions might be fun to have around for a couple of months and then they are going to start hurting people and property. They are never going to be tame enough to be safe to have around the house.
The idea of keeping a large wild animal anywhere but its natural wild habitat or a very expensive zoo enclosure is also extremely cruel of course. Which makes me a bit less sympathetic to anyone who gets swindled by this kind of ad.
The fact that it would also be contributing to the extinction of a species is of course another important reason to be stop this from happening.
