Sheraton looks pretty good in 1965. Supposedly it was the first Sheraton to open outside of North America. I say supposedly because I also read Sheraton Tel Aviv was first. Check out the much larger shot [Here]

It should be declared an Historical Site and forbid any attempts to tear it down. On a side note, I noticed the “Canon” logo further back of the hotel. Is the Canon store still there?
I think that Canon logo was this

The building has now been demolished. There is a Canon store though in the area though near Souk al Kabeer.
Yes, that’s the one, and it’s gone now!? This is unacceptable. They should pass a law regulating the demolition of buildings older than 40 years even if it’s private property because these buildings “date” the city and the country as a whole.
These are historical markers. For example, the fact that the Sheraton was built in the early 1960s indicates that Kuwait city was a thriving metropolis at that time. The opening of an international hotel chain is evidence of it.
totally off topic-
there used to be this song that used to be played in KTV all the time- “ana kuwaiti ana”
does anyone have a youtube link for this?

Look at the greenery and space around it! They need to plan buildings and areas like that!
How totally spiffy it all seems!!
