Shipping items to Aramex that are valued at over $2,500

According to the Aramex Shop & Ship FAQ the maximum value allowed per package to be shipped from the US should not exceed $2,500. Packages that are over $2,500 must come with an Export Declaration Form from the shipper or the merchant. Sounds complicated but turns out it’s not.

If you send an item that’s worth over $2,500 to your Shop&Ship account it will get marked as a high value shipment and be placed on hold. You will then receive an email from Aramex telling you that they’ve placed your item on hold and that you would need to visit their US Export Regulations page on the Shop&Ship website. You will then have to do the following:

– Download and open the “Written Authorization Sample” word document that’s linked at the bottom of that page.

– Fill your name in the field “Principal Party in Interest”. It should be the same name as the Shop & Ship account holder.

– Fill your physical address. By this they mean your Kuwait address and NOT your US forwarding mailbox.

– Place your signature in the signature field.

– Leave rest of the fields blank to be filled by Aramex.

– Finally send the word document along with the package tracking number to [email protected]

And that’s it. A pretty simple process that would delay your shipment a couple of days but nothing drastic.

THEY ARE TERRIBLE!!! I had a shipment that does not exceed 3 KG and they charges 71 KD for it! They simply assumed based on the dimension that it weights 14 KG!!!! What is the cheapest way to ship from the States, any suggestions?

Why now inforce all these new regulations and procedures? Some shipping rules should be changed and not by inforcing more complicated ones. Something fishy is going on here and that something is another way to show aramex is doing everything it can to make it’s customer feel more upset year after year. Why until now aramex doesn’t show us the total shipping cost, postage fee, clearance fee and 5% of the total package price for packages exceeding $100 and why are they are written on the receipt we receive with the package when they are delievered? Since 2009 they said they will show all the charges online but nothing has been change. The only party getting abused here are aramex customers

What new regulation or procedures? This rule has been there since as far as I can remember and I’ve been with them for over 10 years now. I just wrote about it now because I’m planning on shipping an item thats worth over 2,500 and wanted to know what the procedure is.

I guess I need to have my own Yard sale to make that happen. Problem for me is there’s not much in the yard. 🙁

It’s a rule placed by the US government and applies to all shipping companies and has been there for a long time. This is not a new rule.

I ordered an item that was over $2500 and aramex didn’t ask me to fill out a form and that was almost a year ago.

it has to do in the way aramex packages the items for shipping outside the US… as you said Mark, this is a US customs regulation that requires any shipments outside the US exceeding a certain value threshold to file this declaration… however is some cases (from my pov) aramex would bundle shipments all together and would not require individual declarations… or in mere simple terms: pure luck! 🙂

they have the worst service on the planet . i ordered a bag from dubai and they sent it to me via aramex, armex called me says its here and they wanna deliver it n asked me for my address – i gave it to them n said ill be hope after 2-
bag never gets there i called at 4 they said it will get delivered tom! even though the guys said today – i said ok but anytime after 2 – she noted it

second day i call at 3 they said we came at 12!!!!!!! i said im at work wtf! i told em at 2

third day they dont come at all

forth day i had to call shout scream etc and they delivered it at 5

I’m having the same problem but with the SA branch, I’ve already signed the papers and still waiting for their response.
20 days since the seller shipped the goods and no update since then…!!!

I wish this information was entirely true. I just had a package thats worth $3000 held for being high-value, I immediately sent all the required information (Thanks to you Mark for having this on your website), and Aramex called me and promised shipping will be within 2 days.

A week past and so far no news or update not even Aramex in Kuwait are sure what’s going on and they started blaming USA’s Aramex office.

Moreover, I also just got news that anything above $1500 is now considered High Value rather than $2500.

Hi everyone. i have a problem with aramex shipping as well. but this is not related with the topic above. i was just hoping someone in here can help me with it… I just purchased an item from ebay worth 850 usd. the problem is that the seller told me that my signature will be required upon delivery by fedex ground or home delivery. apparently, I wont be able to be there to receive the package and sign it myself because im here in the middle east. Has anyone here experienced this situation before? I would truly appreciate your help eventhough my post seem a little far from the date this article was posted… thank you so much

Hello, I didn’t know anything about this “High Value Shipment” until my package was put on hold due to high value shipment. I quickly visited the Aramex Infofort here in Ghana at Spintex and had some forms filled. This happened on the 23rd of April. Few days later, my package was still on hold so had to call and ask why. After calling the customer care here in Ghana, I was then emailed to provide an invoice of the package to help move them. I provided the invoice. It’s 3rd May now and till date my package is still on hold. Why’s this happening? Does this mean I’m not gonna get my package again? Someone please explain this to me cuz it’s really driving me insane. Moreover I’ve been receiving emails saying “Location Update” what does that mean?

Again, it’s been 6days today and my other package have not updated in my shop and ship account. But I read it take 72hrs for that. What’s really happening?

so why aramex is giving us heart broke everyday ….is it crime to work with you people means I have to stop working with aramex I guess

Are you calling Aramex in New York or Kuwait because the office in Kuwait is closed because of the lockdown.

If its been a month and your package hasn’t shown up in your mailbox then whomever sent you the package put the wrong address. I’ve had packages come into my mailbox all this month without issues or delays.

Thievery to say the least… They’re probably doing that just to have a reason for delays… 1500$ shipment stuck for more than 6 days, at first claiming it didn’t come with an invoice. When I uploaded the invoice they took 6 days to upload it and now suddenly they claim “high value” on an 1500$ shipment

so what happen with you because i did the mistake to buy something worth 3000 without knowing about the high value issue

hello mark, I got this high value thing and my item is in hold, can you re-upload the document because the site is down, or you you have any updates about the procedure.

imagine mark this procedure now updated it become very hope killer , now if you have a “high value” shipment you need not only fill a form you also need to contact the supplier ( In may case some guy in Ebay) and beg him to fill another form in order they ship it!

and as u said there are so bad of solving problems you call them and they answer like a local government unit!
