I had two packages arrive with Aramex today and as expected their new pricing system was applied.
The first package included air filters and the value was $86. I paid KD2.550 for customs and KD2 as a clearance fee. The second package included sandals with a value of $500. I paid KD8 for customs and KD2 as a clearance fee.
I haven’t received a package from Borderlinx yet so not sure if they’ve started applying these fee’s as well. But, according to a DHL customer service agent there is a new 5% customs fee on ALL shipments. So it’s not just Aramex.

Are laptops still exempt from Customs 5%? or They removed that now?
So Mark, what are the individual charges? Is it KD 42.55 + whatever Aramex charges for the shipment? Or is it inclusive of Aramex’s charges?
42 was the total cost for my packages. that includes customs, customs clearance fee and the shipping cost. the third item on the receipt is a magazine that had arrived awhile back but just picked it up today. so no idea if new fees will be applied to magazines but i doubt.

Kuwait has no tax why on earth they are taking flat 5% as customs?? and not just handling fees. Some one should rise this issue to the Parliament (whenever it comes back).

Dude please send me the link for the 3-pack 403 series air filters. I could find only 503 series.
The Blueair 403 only uses one filter. You can buy them locally for like KD18 or something. On Amazon they sell 403 filters individually.

I remember before that Aramex didn’t take the 1 KD charge for books. Is that still happening.

I just got the new macbook pro (retina) through DHL. The thing cost $2200, I didn’t pay a cent to customs. Cheaper than Aramex, faster (doesn’t stay at customs for a long time), and no extra fees. I say cheaper cause there are no local state tax to pay (if you buy from Amazon). That saved me about $200 alone.

No tax if you ship to DHL, since it is located in Ohio. And unlike NY, which charges for E-Commerce, Ohio doesn’t.
So how much did you end up paying in shipping charges? Basically what did you pay to DHL?
$108 exactly. For a box that is about 5 Kgs, again probably a bit more than aramex, but saved on the tax. I’m getting another MacBook Pro Retina today… 🙂
