Sidekick Academy

Me and Nat passed by Sidekick Academy earlier tonight and signed up to their courses. Nat’s going to be taking their Be-Safe womens program which I previously posted about while I’ll be taking private lessons in mixed martial arts.

It was my first time passing by their training facility and I was really impressed. The place is huge and feels like a great place to train in. They also told me Royce Gracie will be coming back to Kuwait in around 2 months time which is great.

So now I’m pretty much set up with activities on a daily basis. I’ve got Core Fitness four times a week, mixed martial arts once a week and I’ll be building and racing radio controlled cars with Pro-Hobbies also once a week. And people say there is nothing to do in Kuwait…

Update: Here are the prices if anyone is interested

Program Pricing (6 times a week)
1 month = KD70
3 months = KD200
6 months = KD375
1 year = KD720

Be Safe Program (twice a week/women only)
1 month = KD45

Private Lessons (per hour)
KD10 = Private lesson with a red belt instructor
KD20 = Private lesson with a brown belt instructor

Their phone number is 99965562 99975562

M: There are a variety of options. If you want regular classes like the one pictured above I think its KD70 a month for 6 courses a week. KD200 for 3 months, KD375 for 6 and KD720 for a full year. Be Safe program is KD45 a month for 2 courses a week. KD10 per hour for a private lesson with a red belt instructor, KD20 for a brown belt instructor, and KD30 for a black belt instructor.

Will update the post with prices

@ Mark

you brought up a good point for sayin: “And people say there is nothing to do in Kuwait”.

There are lots of things to do here…if you are a single person. But what are things that people could do here as couples? What are some of the “couple activities” in Kuwait?

“And people say there is nothing to do in Kuwait…”

By that same twisted logic, you should find Saudi Arabia a very fun country as well… Going to the gym is at best a necessary evil, NOT a fun activity!

Your statement is subjective, but nonetheless your ever constant defense of Kuwait being a fun place to live applies to Saudi Arabia as well. That was the point I was trying to make.

I’ve never been to Saudi Arabia so not sure of what activities they have there but if you don’t find sports fun then it isn’t your thing and doesn’t mean Kuwait in general is boring.

Yes, you are right I don’t find sports fun, but that’s why I was saying your statement is subjective. I still maintain that if you were living in Saudi, you’d also be the one defending it as a very fun place full of activities. Your current schedule of gym, MMA, and RC cars is readily available in Saudi as well.

Well as I said I’ve never been to Saudi but I would imagine even if you had the same activities in Saudi that wouldn’t be enough to make it a fun place due to everything else over there. Kuwait is fairly normal country, Saudi isn’t.

noneya – NO..my coach was thinking of organising an MMA tournament next year but i dont think the govt will allow him.

Cool-an octogon would add realism. MMA can be fought. This place sounds like the gym for me. I’m glad you blogged about it. I have a collegiate and international level freestyle wrestling background and a smattering of tae kwon do and BJJ. I can take out my frustrations with work and traffic at this gym:) Good Luck with your private lessons. Maybe I’ll see you there. We can spar:)
