Signor Sassi

I haven’t been to Signor Sassi in London but I just came back from the one here in Kuwait and I was pretty impressed. They haven’t opened yet, they’re still testing but everything is pretty much ready and they will be soft opening on Sunday with the official opening in early October. I met the Signor Sassi owner since he’s in Kuwait making sure everything is perfect for the opening and he was very nice and friendly. The location that’s opening on Sunday is the Gulf Road one which is located in the same place as Fish Market and Fusion. The 360 Mall location won’t be opening for another 2 months at least. In case you haven’t heard of them before, Signor Sassi is a popular Italian restaurant located in Knightsbridge. It’s run by the same people behind the award winning San Carlo.

Love Signor Sasi but I don’t think it will taste the same here.. Late the only project that will survive in kuwait is “FOOD”

As long as they have the hearty bowls of pecorino cheese, olives and tomatoes in olive oil on the table with the crusty bread, I am sold irrespective of the food.

That’s always my favorite part.

Burhan: What other kinds of restaurants would you like to open in Kuwait? A shoe restaurant? A toy restaurant? Or how about a mobile phone restaurant?

Darn those Food Restaurants!!

“The brand is being taken overseas by retail mogul Sheikh Marzouk Al Kharafi, from one of the richest families in the Arab world. One of his relatives is hoping to buy Liverpool Football Club. The family’s enormous business empire, the Americana Group, already owns the regional rights for Wimpy and KFC and is the single biggest shareholder in Krispy Kreme doughnuts.” idiot journalists

I wonder if like London an indian or philopino guy will be shouting out loudly in italian and singing to diners, like the italian guy does at their london branch

Posting it again here, under the assumption it was only at 360… the seaside location is a game-changer

Signor Sassi is due to open at 360 mall, and it will no doubt go through the usual predictable cycle:

1. Import a restaurant beloved by a few Kuwaitis who go to London a lot and hope the name means something to people beyond that demographic

2. Choose an inappropriate location. In this case, fine dining inside a mall

3. Hire highly paid Italian chef from London

4. Said Italian chef will leave a few months after “training” the locally hired staff of various nationalities, and after suffering from soul-destroying loneliness and not serving any wine with his creations

5. Cuisine will take a dip in quality the minute he leaves which won’t matter much to the masses who only want their Penne Arrabiata.

6. It will then become just another generic/bland Italian restaurant in a mall

7. Signor Sassi HQ in London will get upset at the tarnishing of their brand and end their relationship with the local partner

8. A “new” restaurant replaces Signor Sassi, most likely Lebanese food since that’s what sells

DOESN’T ANYONE DO ANY MARKET RESEARCH BEFORE THEY SINK THEIR MONEY INTO THESE VENTURES??!!!

Finally Signor Sassi is in Kuwait. I dinned there yesterday and the food quality was similar to what I had in London. The best thing is that Signor Sassi Kuwait is maintaining similar Italian culture. I would strongly recommend to try their spaghetti & lobster.

LOVED LOVED LOVED Signor Sassi. It was just terrific. Just 1 problem, well technically not a problem, the food is amazing and tastes very similar to the one in London. At the other side, how its prepared and how it look not like london at all. Didn’t like how my food looked, but the taste just amazing. Going to it again today, YUM YUM YUM! Veal Maleness with a side of Spaghetti Bolognese.
