SNOG – Pure Frozen Yogurt

Yes another frozen yogurt place is opening up. I spotted the above hoarding in Phase II of Avenues. It’s a good location since other than two Pinkberry’s, Napket and IKEA they really don’t have much competition there.

Because Kuwait needs more cafes, restaurants and parlors… Instead of public libraries and recycling bins around the country… But if they manage to get Starbucks out of business, then I don’t mind.

i bet u, if they open public libraries in every area of kuwait, they’ll also have cafes inside the libraries. lol.

Sad… SAD BUT SERIOUSLY, are most of the ‘mockers’ here going to go buy from this land’s numerous western cafes and restaurants anyway?.

Its also opening up in Muhallab I think.

I agree with everyone here, enough with the restaurants and coffee shops. Its such a small country we dont need THAT many places to eat!

Open whatever restaurants you want to, but why the f is everything opening up in the avenues only? If these places were accessible in residential areas as well, you would find more people visiting them. Salmiya block 10 (Indian/Pakistani majority) never gets to see such fancy places. Sometimes I wish they would open close to my house. Fine, you dont want to open a relatively obscure frozen yoghurt restaurant…at least open a Starbucks. But I guess Starbucks is more of a trendy cafe than a coffee shop 🙂 There are quite a few of us who don’t have much interest in regularly visiting the Avenues, so if we want to try some other cuisines, we have to subject ourselves to malls during the weekends which usually are very crowded with the wrong crowd (groups of guys tailing groups of girls or anything with a v). Anyways, I’ve been noticing that the focus of a lot of businesses is the pricey boutique malls. And as desperate as Kuwait is to mimic the USA/UK, ironically more focus is put on the upper class than the middle class. You can find a decent hang out spot in virtually every city in the US.

some things I can’t help but laughing at. 4 frozen yoghurt places in 1 shopping mall? what is the mentality here people….

Libraries and bookstores don’t open in Kuwait cause they have to be censored by the govt or the govt decides what we can and cannot read- but the govt can’t censor what we eat hence fat tummies and little brains

Every country censors and bans certain books..so it’s not an excuse really.
And blaming public obesity and ignorance on the government is taking it too far… Every individual controls with what & how much they stuff their gobs and brains =P

Guys, let’s just accept the fact that Kuwait is one big food melting pot. Were all bound to be fat (I hope FAHAD isn’t reading this). I mean I do agree with all of you, it’s about time the people in Kuwait invest is something other than food, but were all just in love with it-no matter how much we complain.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I’m about 70% certain they don’t know what it stands for.

I wish Kuwait opened places that were more interesting.

It’s always either about clothes or food. Not that I hate either, it’s just too much already.

I wonder what the government is so afraid of?

Kuwait will boom even more if they open themselves more to the world.

Guys, let’s be honest! There are plenty of public libraries in Kuwait and they are: Jaber Al-Ahmad Library (Kuwait University), Heritage Manuscripts & Documents Center, British Council, Al-Ahmadi Public Library, Al-Da’eia Library, Abdullah Sl-Salem Library, Al-Dasma Library, Al-Faiha Library, Al-Farwaneiya Library, Al-Fahaheel Library, Al-Khaldia Library, Al-Qadsiya Library, Al-Rumaithiya Library,Hawaly Library, Kheitan Library, Al-Shameia Library & Keifan Library. Al

Also, there is Al-Babtain Center Library for Arabic Poetry, the first of it’s kind in the world. You’ve also have Kuwait National Library, which re-opened last February (originally opened in 1923). How many of you been to any of these places? Not one single person whenever I go there. Public libraries been in Kuwait for almost a century, so
Erving you cannot say about other GCC Countries. I admit, we need Borders, Waterstone’s & Barnes & Nobles.

I laugh so hard when someone says that Kuwaities are “bo habba”
well, it’s not just in Kuwait, the whole world is “bo habba”
AND, only Kuwaities says (Kuwait is bo habba) LOL, I mean seriously?? you are bo habba too honey

At last, a place to call their own; to snog to their heart’s content – all ye young & restless in Q8.

@Khajoor:

Like you, I too lament the ghetto-isation of Kuwait. But it’s nothing new. Whereas previous to the invasion block 10 in Salmieh was a mishmash of Indians, Palestinians and Jordanians snuggling together on a very tiny rug now it is mostly a hodgepodge of Indians absent the Jordanians and the Palestinians. It’s bit like the Bronx which doesn’t get any of the fancy stores & cafes that open shop on the Upper East Side. And sorry to say this but this ghetto-isation is of their own making; South east Asians preferring to zone in close to their community schools, places of worship and grocery stores. Perhaps, if they spread their tentacles out some more they might end up actually, getting a slice of that pie.
Although I will have you know, because of its demographic, block 10 is probably the best suited locale in Kuwait to hosting leading book stores – be they Landmark from the Tata group or Barnes & Nobles or books etc.

On libraries and book stores who needs them anyway when you have the real thing? flipkart.com, anyone?!

While I agree to some extent, to say that this is happening because of Indians/Pakistanis not mixing with others is untrue. The same can be said about the Kuwaitis and Westerners. Westerners are the most exclusive and paranoid community of people here. They will never explore any other part of Kuwait besides boutiques, expensive arabic restaurants and malls and stay within “Secure” zones…as if Arab/Asian men are trying to pimp their women….lol. And these “western” restaurants have these people as one of their target customers which makes sense when reasoning why these restaurants dont open up in asian expat areas.

hey I’m American married to a Kuwaiti and, honestly, i don’t particularly enjoy hanging out with the rest of the ‘Westerners’ … and believe me I explore / leave my comfort zone more than my fair share .. so halt the generalizations

hahaha fancy a snog?, lovely isnt it, finally public display of affection is decriminalised, lol all kidding aside how many frozen yogurt places do we need in one mall, and for all the people saying we need more libraries in Kuwait, well theyre plentiful but people simply arent interested, so why invest in something that will most probably fail to attract the public when you can easily open up a restaurant/cafe and instantly make a profit.
