Stupid Accident

I got the following email from one of my readers:

I just witnessed the most stupid and careless accident I have seen in ages. It happened on the Gulf Road maybe 2-3 km before Kuwaiti towers going towards Kuwait city around 10.30 am today.

I was driving on the slow line ..maybe 70 – 80km/h. The road was not very busy.

There was a car coming on the fast line with a speed of maybe 85- 90km/h …it was rather slowly passing me, so could not speed much for local standards. Out of this car on a passenger seat there was a guy hanging out through the open door having a great fun!!! I swear, I was about to reach my phone to take a picture when he fell out !!! He rolled good couple of times on the road and was laying there. His head was pouring blood and I am pretty sure he must have broken few bones. He was conscious though, but must be in shock. Luckily the car driving behind managed to stop just before him, otherwise he would drive over him.

I’m not sure what to say or who to put the blame on. It’s obviously the fault of the guy hanging outside a fast moving car but I’ve seen so much crap on the Gulf Road I wonder sometimes why there isn’t more law enforcement monitoring it. But then there is the problem that law enforcement a lot of times don’t enforce the law either. On a number of occasions I’ve seen people run a red light right in front of a cop without fear of being stopped. If people are running red lights in front of cops then that’s a sign there is a major issue here. Hopefully the person didn’t suffer a serious an injury.

I think that while your reader was trying to reach out for his camera (as he said) he lost control of the car and was about to hit the car next to him.. So the cars driver quick reaction to avoid the “reader” made him loose his friend in the passenger seat.. What do you think of this turn of events πŸ˜‰

You left the tiny detail of the guy who let his friend hang out of his window while going 90 km/hr. on a street. The devil is in the details.

Man guys driving on these emergency lanes must be penalized big time. I literally saw cars today morning using it and a cop was just standing there on the side ignoring it.

I bet he was a newbie , hopefully senior cops don’t act the same way. No one is above the law in this country.

On the Thursday night at Belajaat Street, I saw a teen driving an SUV with all windows down and on each window, there were 2 of his cousins/siblings sitting holding the roof of the vehicle. That’s like 6-7 kids, a couple of them as young as 8 years old!

Disgusting.

Thats not a stupid accident… thats one of the best accidents ever to happen.

1) The stupid guy attempted to help this world get rid of him.
2) No innocent people or cars got involved.
3) He did not pass away so hopefully he’ll live on to tell his stupidity to other people and maybe someone stupid will come to his sense.

I used to refuse starting my car unless my passengers fastened their seatbelts. My friends used to laugh at this thing.. now they all fasten their seatbelts because of me.

The only bad part of this story is he caused traffic delays for the people driving behind him.

not sure if it’s still active but the link to crashed cars of kuwait was on https://crazyshit.org had lots of examples of what crazy stupid people can do with a piece of metal traveling at high speed. Remember a body in motion stays in motion unless an opposing force of until a body of greater mass opposes it.

got to love the driving here until the Idiot hits you and you have to deal with the Bull. I’m still waiting for my court papers to come back (filed nov 2010) from when the IDIOT smashed into me because he thought it a good idea to pass me using the shoulder at 100 MPH. even though I was the only driver withing 500 meters on a 3 lane road.

It goes much further than heads out of windows and driving in emergency lanes. It the ignorance of people not wearing seatbelts in the back seat, children not restrained (whatever the age). I get told over and over again that you can’t be injured in the back seat as the back of the front seat will cushion you – it certainly will!! Just as much as the window as you smash your head against it. And the unrestrained baby sitting in the lap of an adult – the front windscreen will certainly cushion the impact of it’s head. Dramatic?? No, not at all – reality. Restrain your children and restrain yourself.

You may be a good, safe driver – fine. However it’s the twats that drive like…. well, you can’t even call it driving.

Ingorance is bliss.

Natural selection.

Repeat after me: They just don’t care. They just don’t care. They just don’t care. And I mean that for law enforcement also.

Install speed bumps/humps like they have in the UAE on the Gulf Road. People are more concerned about their cars than they are of lives, so they’ll slow down.

I don’t think forcing people to slow down because they care about their cars will work. I have seen people that just run their vehicles into the ground. No engine oil change,no powersteering oil, no coolant, no cleaning, no airblasting and sometimes even no petrol. So many people here don’t care about their lives or their vehicles.

As I read the story, I felt guilty as I didn’t really feel sorry for the guy! After reading the above comments, I could see many felt the same way! I hope he lives and I hope he felt the pain!

Really? Someone deserved to nearly die because he was reckless?

I’m glad y’all are perfect and have never done a stupid thing in your lives…Otherwise wishing death and/or injury on you would be totally fine.

well @D, I would say most of us did silly things in life, but even stupidity and carelessness had its limits I guess. This guy could not only kill himself but also, being fully aware of it, endangered lives of other drivers . Imagine you drive with a speed limit of 80km/h and suddenly you see a guy rolling on a street! even if you keep a safe distance between the car in front of you, you need to slam on breaks in order not to hit him. obviously all the cars behind have to do the same. Also imagine that it is your wife with your kids driving in one of the cars behind? What are the chances that there is no accident on a busy street?

I don’t disagree that this was extremely foolish and inconsiderate, but shouldn’t we be grateful that he didn’t hurt anyone else instead of wishing harm on him? I’m sure he has learned his lesson now.
