Tatami for Lunch

I finally managed to pass by Tatami Japanese restaurant for lunch today. Everything I had was really good and the owner of the place (who is also the chef) was there and she was very friendly and helpful when choosing the dishes. My only issue with the place is that the sushi rolls are extremely tiny. Like the tiniest rolls I’ve ever seen. But other than that it’s a great place and worth trying out. Here is the link to their website [Link]

The owner is not a she it’s a he actually, their two kuwaities, partners. I know this because one of them is my cousin.

Kuwait has the worst Japanese restaurants, I mean come on who puts a sauce on a sushi and then names the sushi after a person? How sick is that?? I tried most sushi places in Kuwait and to be honest none of them tastes fresh. Just cause we are seeing a lot of Japanese restaurants opening up doesn’t mean we have good ones.

Edo doesn’t do that, and in any of the places that do that you can ask for normal rolls. hell be a man and ask for Sashimi lol, I don’t bother with the other stuff

I love this place. It has a great vibe. The fact that the chef comes out to check on the tables is amazing. I thought she was only going to do that when they first opened but its still happening. The sushi rolls are smaller, but if you notice, there are actually more of them then the standard six pieces (8-10) so I think it balances out. Smaller bites also encourage you to kind of make your own tasting menu which is fun (when you’re in a big group). Could be annoying when you’re just two people though…

All in all, its my new fav Japanese and as far as I’m concerned…you can never have enough Japanese. Hope to see some new names venture the market in years to come.

You would need 4 rolls to equal 1 regular roll anywhere else. So even if you have 2 or 4 rolls extra you’re really getting at least half of what you would get anywhere else.
