The BKME Sphere.. What is it?

Since my post the other day on the new BKME logo I have heard two definitions for the sphere. The first is that its not a pearl its the moon. The second definition is that its a crystal ball. Both sources for these answers were BKME employees. So I decided I will contact BKME myself and find out. I sent them an email 2 days ago and I didn’t get a reply. I called them up last night and believe it or not their customer support line works only during regular working hours! So since today morning I have been trying to contact them on 812000 but no one is picking up. If I was planning on being a new customer I would have moved on and looked elsewhere by now. I will keep trying to call and will post when I find out anything.

when i first started using airbrush to paint i got this book to learn
the first exercise was something like this spare..

i tryed to find the book ams.. when i do ill post the pic

actually, in some drawing softwares you dont have to do any thing to get that sphere. All what you have to do is click on a button in the brushes bar, then drag a line on the canavas and voila: you got your pearl!

When we designed the bkme identity we wanted to create something, simple, striking, memorable, intriguing.

As the first bank in Kuwait we felt the pearl was an ideal reference to bkme’s heritage and we also felt the symbol was beautiful, fresh, clean , relevant and could reflect a colour spectrum which could be connected with a vibrant advertising and in branch communications system.

The symbol needed to connect with AUB for strategic reasons. And also needed to feel more approachable then the previous BKME mark which was more a corporate identity than a Brand mark.

Mainly the symbol was intended to signal a real change within organisation.
And bkme’s sincere desire to work towards creating a bank that actually makes life simple for its customers.

We also developed Stand alone Architecture, interior design, advertising and communications, cards, collateral’s, infomercials and a multimedia branch staff training program intended to educate staff in the reasoning purpose and intended use of the new brand suite created.

I feel the identity works well, the new branch at South Cerra opens this month and will be a best in class branch environment for both staff and customers.

The logo is a small but important part of a whole Brand system integrating architecture, Environmental design, Advertising, Communications,Collateral’s, this list is extensive.

I think this logo the symbol and the complete identity system is strong, durable and will last for as long as the bank wishes it too.
