The f**kers!

I wonder how easy it would be for the authorities to track down the uploader. I am a huge fan of graffiti but not on public property like highway underpasses. [YouTube]

Well done graffiti is a very cool thing no doubt, and even though i agree that it shouldnt really be done on public property, when you do see cool graffiti art, it is like seeing any other art, capturing, creative, inspiring and enjoyable to see.

The problem here is that this kids graffiti is a big dumb mess! It is not really done well at all, and then it gets worse when he just writes crap on a car, bus stop and bus! whats the point, it just looks crap!

In Jeddah, the baladiya had the same problem. So the government decided to dedicate a wall specially for the graffiti “art”, also known as soor il7awamil (pregnant women walk there and it is about 1km long) and the kids can do what ever they want, and when it gets full the government paints it again, and they start all over again. I think they did a great job πŸ™‚

Good job in Jeddah for sure, that takes someone who is actually forgiving towards youth impulses, here we are very good at banning and banning and banning… forget creative outlets, there are no outlets period! Haram!

This graffiti is a crime against the state, its sheer vandalism and it looks horrible.

I see stickers, slogans, signs saying how much people are proud of being Kuwaiti and how much they love Kuwait. If we don’t even clean, respect, and protect our home (Kuwait) how do you expect others to do the same?

Loving your country has nothing to do with stickers, flags, or signs on your shirt or car it comes with being responsible enough to love and respect your country (including its people local and foreign) enough to prevent this.

In my opinion this is simply a symptom of the slow decay this country is going through…

Another thing if you visit northern ireland, belfast, you’ll notice murals on the wall those are beautiful indeed individually and uniformly.. that is art not what we see on this video!

I agree.
I’ve been to Belfast. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the walls you’re talking about…!
Shame :/

Don’t you guys just love the self-censorship?

Hey Mark, you can write/use the word FUCK in your own blog man, we aren’t delicate flowers you know! πŸ™‚

exactly.. if they plan on ruining something, atleast don’t scribble crap on it.. well I hope they get busted..

i get graffiti. but these guys in kuwait cant do shit. plus its disgusting when they do it on a very clean new wall in kuwait. these guys don’t even know what art is.

First of the guy needs to practise to get better.

Second of all, Kuwait is a very run down place anyways. Graffiti wont add to the problem.

Third its good to see self expression in this way.

Other people here express them selves by Money and the chase for it, status, theft, and oppressiveness.

I personally love contrast, and exploitation of societal gaps.

Here you have a Bentley Monopoly driving down a run down street with pot holes, graffiti, heat and dust.

Hope you understood that analogy
Thanks

I really believe that there is a huge difference between “graffiti” and vandalism – most true graffiti is art-like. When the wall by the coops are just spray painted with this like hotmail addresses and TUPAC LIVES and other such nonsense, that is just vandalism. My little coop had re-painted a wall covered in vandalism, and in a week, it was all vandalized again – very disappointing, especially when I live in a neighborhood that is just about all Kuwaiti families (for 2 reasons, first, that they don’t seem to get as upset about it as I do, and secondly, it is probably Kuwaiti kids doing it, being they are the primary ones who live around here).

haters gonna hate,

art is a form of expression, those who cannot appreciate it, can look the other way. there is a touch of it in this video, as opposed to the usual idiot-with-a-spray can tattooing the walls of girls schools with his email, BB#, or even some lame form of profanity.

the idea with the wall in Jeddah sounds intriguing, like they say in the news, Jeddah Gheir (Jeddah is different, or جدة غير)

The funny thing is; this issue was raised long ago, turn of the millennium to be exact, those of u who went to Private schools would have been familiar with a magazine that was circulating at the time by the name of “Voices” and in their first issue they addressed this issue, and my answer was “edited” to conform with some rule or the other. that answer is what i wrote at the top. art is expression, deal with it or ignore it.

Well, why don’t we juust blast music in a mosque during prayer time then?

Art has its place. Crappy art especially has no place on walls that do not belong to you.

I know the Kuwait BALADIA does take a look at post’s by bloggers. And in some cases they have taken action in the past based on post’s on 248am & other blogs which is great.

I used to see crap graffitti around but never knew it was such a bad mess. Nofers above put in some great insight on efforts in Jeddha.

Wish the Baladia could host a official “Kuwaiti Graffitti Challenge” at graffiti spots around.

This guy really needs to take some art classes. A 3 year old can do a better job with spray can than this joker.

You have to admit what they are doing is pretty ballsy for Kuwait (especially the cop car), and I’ve seen much worse scribbled on the walls (i.e. Nazi symbols with horribly spelled words), but he’s definitely not extraordinary.

However, you might want to take what he’s doing in context:

https://www.fatcap.com/graffiti-types.html

In the videos they are doing “throwups” and “tags.” I personally like street art and wall pieces, but expecting them to be able to do that without learning is like expecting a 3 year old to be able to present a college level piece of art.

Yeah, committing a crime usually takes guts…Doesn’t make it commendable. They can practise (and limit their scribbles to) on their own walls.

What’s with the haters speech? these things are not even remotely related to art writing one word?
and it’s not even meaningful. what’s with writing on a police car? is he trying to show some kind of power? why is he even sneaking if he is so powerful.

Who cares about some kids tagging up an already filthy place? lol Kuwait has MUCH bigger issues to deal with.

i loved it !! we should have more grafitti and art on our boring and dull city .. Art is the new black ;P you goooooooooooooooo guys !!
