A short video featuring Hasan Bomejdad, a player in the Kuwaiti national table tennis team on the hardships disabled people go through in Kuwait. The video focuses specifically on the lack of proper parking facilities or the fact that people don’t respect the disabled parking spots. [YouTube]

🙁
ناس مو متربية اللي تصفط مكان المعاقين
I hate it when perfectly healthy ppl park in their parking space! and he is so right, look how small their parking space is! pfff
i liked what he said at the end “if u take my parking space take my disability as well”
The guy is absolutely right, there is nothing done about it…. but i know if you call the cops, they can either fine the person who parked in it or put a boot on the tyres… if they tow it, would be perfect.. or just park behind the car and lock them in
You know what? Even Police cars park in the handicap parking. The government should enforce tougher laws
First, what’s with the weird aspect ratio of the video? lol
Second, this video is absolutely right. People have no respect for those parking spaces and the reason is because no one has any respect when driving. A person can pray 5 times a day, go to the mouse, give zakat all the time, but when they get behind the wheel they act like they’re the only ones on the road. Why do you think Kuwait is #3 in deaths caused by car accidents in the world? We can enforce all the laws we want, but by the end of the day in order to solve this problem, and so many problems on the road, we the drives have to change. We have to be respectful and polite. If we don’t change our driving and continue to drive the way we do nothing will change.
What’s our government’s response to driving here in Kuwait? Instead of educating us and giving us thorough driving tests they just put another couple of speed cameras and bumps on the road. They’re ignoring the real issue and using speed cams and bumps as a scapegoat for actually educating people and doing something positive. But again, if people drove not insane like, then they wouldn’t even have to put up any cams or bumps! It’s us that has to change!
This should air on Kuwait TV. 🙁
🙁 thats so sad!
Bro yousef, You’re Right. What we need here in Kuwait is culture of driving. Each driver is influenced and affected by the other drivers behavior. If we take egypt for example, you can’t drive there even if you’re an egyptian. People over there have no sense of direction they drive like crazy and run over anything that moves. That’s why people need to be educated and to respect the law.
If you modify the government’s ideology only then will you be able to see changes within Kuwait’s society. I still have hope Kuwait will change.
Thanks for the video, Mark.
Things will never change here let’s be realistic and not have false hopes, no one gives here
This is typical behavior in all the Arab world, most would just think “if he’s disabled he shouldn’t be out of the house in the first place”. All is related to ignorance and home education, as long as respect is practiced according to people’s “privileges” whether physical or financial it will remain the same. Posting videos like this raises awareness to an extent and notifies people of the concerns of those who are unheard or unseen. thank you again Mark for the post.
thanx 4 the post.
I hope kuwait will 1 day (i know it’s far away) ppl would respect the physically and mentally disabled.
I hate use the term ili bil3arabi “mo3a8” plz don’t use it coz it means “retard”. It’s not nice.
What I always do is I have a set of stickers with me wherever i go and it says in Arabic” you took my parking place why don’t u take my handicap 2″ and I just go down and check if they car doesn’t have the disabled sign I stick two of them on on the car..
I would love to give the stickers to others to help out. if you want some I can send them to you just email me at [email protected]
I’ve started this about 4 years ago and I just keep them in my car. I”m glad to see the saying is spreading in Kuwait. I had taken it from a US magazine about 4 years ago.. “you took my space why don’t u take my handicapped as well.. ” beautifully done. but if we don’t help and stand by our handicapped citizens then they will always suffer, and yes it is difficult , when its a rude driver which has happened to me a few times but nothing will stop me from helping out.. so please if you want me to send you the stickers just email me the address and I’ll send you about 50 or so..thank you all for helping
Hasan Bomejdad has said it very politely.
What I feel like doing when I see a flashy sports car parked (crooked that too) in a handicapped spot, or a car parked right in between 2 parking spots is take my keys and scratch the sides – only THEN will such ignorant morons realize the inconvenience they have caused.
Who’s with me?
@Kuwait some days back I saw some one doing that to someone’s car which was parked in between two slots blocking 2 parkings! Oh my what a flashy car and I couldn’t believe he scratched it so ruthlessly! Now I’m wondering was it YOU?
The video is so touching! Have you guys noticed that most of the handicap parking is taken by healthy wealthy Kuwaiti women? I thought women are supposed to me kinder lot !
I am getting a bunch of “I park like an IDIOT” stickers printed. If any body wants some, please let me know.
^ lol Keith – would love to have some.
No Kulsum, that wasn’t me 🙂 If I ever have to do it, I would do it discreetly.
i never knew there was a table tennis team for handicaps in kuwait. i’m impressed. and idk in supermarkets there seem to be LOTS of handicapped parking spaces, dunno about malls etc but yeh touching.
Hi Kuwait, e-mail me on [email protected] with your details and I’ll send you some. Cheers!
Good post. Every time I see a perfectly healthy person walk out of their car after parking it on a handicapped spot I give them the stare of death.
Stickers. Just by the A4 sized stickers and plant one right on the driver’s side windshield of the A-holes’ car. You don’t even have to write anything – just keep them in your car, stick it and go.
A girl blocked my car in with hers once. I wrote on her windshield with red lipstick “NO PARKING”. She literally went apeshit and beat up my rental car! (Giggles) I hope she broke a nail.
