The Tallest Skyscraper, Burj Mubarak

I thought this project was canceled but I guess its still on. Kuwait is planning to build the tallest skyscraper in the world, one thats around 30% taller than the current tallest skyscraper, Burj Dubai. [Link]

Thanks DJ

We’re great at talking about mega projects… and this is again nothing more than talk.

Part of Mangaf’s blocks 1 and 2 are still without roads/infrastructure! The tender for that was out two years ago. The closing date last August and not a sight of any work.

For Silk City, the first step is the bridge over Kuwait bay. We’ve seen drawings, discussions, arguments, and more – yet nothing yet in place! If roads take that long, how the hell are we going to build a world-class city from scratch.

I hate being a pessimist. I hate pessimists. But this is only a dream today.

I hope we see positive changes, and we will look back at how we slept during these years.

Nopes.. Never gonna happen.. based on world recession, Kuwait’s economy etc etc Last thing they would wanna do is build the world’s largest erection..

The parliament is always in clash with the government, everyone wants a piece of the cake. unless they change their policies it’s going to be hard to continue with these projects.

Nice Picture ..

Burj Mubarak will be the first building that they going to start in Silk City .. and YES it will happend .

I think we need to talk about projects in dubai that allready started and cancled .. !

Mark posts this knowing by the time it’s built we’ll all be dead and buried – the building in the year 2095 (3azeez is right) will be as impressive and groundbreaking as a discarded pair of knickers.

PS – Can someone inform us when the often-delayed ‘Symphony Mall’ on the Gulf Road will be complete, cause so far it seems to be striking a symphonic cord of delay.

Gotta love the system, both the Municipality and Public Works Min. in Kuwait are brilliant: they manage to do the work of three men: Larry, Curly & Moe

i can’t believe none of the info which was listed on this article, i mean guys for gods sake have you noticed any serious move to get this project done ever since they announced it….

in Dubai once they announce a project the day next you sense action here all what you sense is the conspiracy theory behind this project and starting this lame arguments in national assembly on why does this co. won the contract and not that one.

Get out of here..

It’s called “Burj Mubarek Al-Kabeer”, and not only “Burj Mubarek.” He was the 7th emir from the Al-Sabah dynasty, and the founder of modern Kuwait. I personally heard that the government is really interested in seeing this project completed within the next 5 years, and they have already green lit the designs. In the next couple of months, they will start working on it. Of course, when they say 5 years, they mean 20. Haha, we all remember how long it took (5 years!) to complete a single road on Diwar al Jawazat.

Skyline, please… All the offices and apartments in Dubai are vacant. They were toooooo excited to build all these buildings to replicate New York City, but no one is buying them. Besides, the buildings they build are cheaply done with even cheaper labor. All we see is aluminium and glass. They were the victims of their own success.

I am not a Kuwaiti in nationality, but my family & I lived here for more than 50 yrs now but to me this is home and will always be home,, I really wish Kuwait to becomes the leader that once was in the region, I always want to think positive and I really hope this project become true ,,, I don’t like you people to think negative …

A load of Bull nothing that the govt says in kuwait will happen, the only concern kuwaitis have is the 50kd allowance the govt will add to all salaries, other than that nothing will EVER happen

This gonna heppen 4 sure my frend in ministry he told me, he is mudeer idarat al idaraat and he alredy sign all paper. q8 gonna beet UEA just u gonna see 😉

Great! So we have everyone bashing the system in Kuwait. Let me ask those Kuwaitis who are talking negative about Kuwait: What have you done to change the system? Easy being blog intellectuals and talk crap about your homeland…

For Expats: If it (the Kuwaiti laid back attitude) bothers you so much; then get your bags packed and leave! Ohh I forgot; the money’s good here! Right??

@ nyx.Not ALL expats NEED to be here to survive. And if they ALL leave,it will be like living in a ghost town.Scary thought.Just thinking about driving through places like Hawally etc.And I personally don’t care if this building goes up in 2015 or never at all.

Stafa: am an expat myself! And thats besides the point of who’s doing who’s work! If you look at it; there are Kuwaitis in the Oil and gas Sector who are supporting this Oil Rich nation in turn supporting millions of Expat’s dreams!
@ Desertsky: Fine, all expats who think like you should leave! But then where will they go? If only their home nation could provide the paychecks they are tch tchi’ing here! Do I hear some boarding pass’s ruffle… naaaahh; didnt think so either!

@ desertsky: You just did! LMAO….
Do you care to elaborate on the sleep typing part please? I dont think it fits in any of the contextual debate we are having at present… ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz

If there’s any talk of sustainability then I might sense some kind of serious approach to the project. It seems that the only reason for a project like this is to extend the magnitude of our egos.
We don’t have much buildable footprint in Kuwait, but if we do build a new city I hope it’s done correctly, in light of the environmental devastation any project of this size is likely to produce. And, relating to our recent financial crises, should building the tallest tower in the world really be on anyone’s agenda?

Let them build the city first!! Silk City planning started in 1980s and still nothing. Maybe when my 3 years old son get married they start the project bidding. The last time I checked, Silk City project was placed on hold officially.

Puhleeeeeeeeeze! Kuwait can’t even get a proper free trade zone. Have you ever tried to get a permit there – or get visas for your employees?

I think it should be named Burj Mustaheel.

The only way there is going to be a skyscraper is if i get a raging hard-on and lay down on my back in silk city. Quit dreaming.

ummm why so negative??

ummm stop dissin the country..

non Kuwaiti here.. but i’m be proud to call this place home..

it has its ups and downs..then again which country doesnt? ….

I am with realist on this ?? Build it for you ??? Villas and appartment towers are empty with land lords begging some one or some company to rent them so ..yeah .. build it for whom??
May be if the government wakes up and let the expats by property in return for permenant residency in the country that will probably give reasons for people to invest in the real estate market and may be lead to the tower and city being built. Otherwise its a pipe dream.
