One of my best friends bought a Tamiya car so we went over to the Tamiya track at the Tilal Complex in Shuwaikh to race our cars on their track. I wouldn’t call what we did racing since it was more like a destruction derby but it was the most fun I’ve had in a long time.
It was my first time using their new outdoor track and it’s amazing. A lot of nice curves, a good long straight and best of all they have 4 charging stations for our batteries. That means if you have two batteries you could race with one while charging the other and keep swapping for unlimited fun. It costs KD1 to use their track but its really worth it. I later noticed they have a small trail for the Tamiya crawlers so I will pass by tomorrow to try that out. It also turns out tomorrow is an off-road day which means they turn the track into an off-road one with jumps and stuff. I will be taking my Tamiya Frog to try that out as well.
My car shell has taken a lot of abuse from me so I decided to pick one up on the way out. I picked up a Ford Escort Cosworth which is actually my 4th favorite car ever (the first is the Lancia Delta Integrale), Going to paint it this week and hopefully race it next Friday.

Nice….how much does a Tamiya car cost?
Ready to race or one you put together? A ready to race I think the cheapest is around KD110. The cheapest kit I saw at the shop was around KD65 but there might have been cheaper.
you went without me!! sux! this looks fun man.
your 4th favorite car is Ford Escort Cosworth ? Really ?
it’s not even in my top .. 6 million !
Here is the full list

thats before it was completed. Should give you a better idea of the size.
What a beauty. Mark you convinced me to get a proper RC car. I want to revive my youngling days with this track.
Wheres the trail for crawling? I didn’t see it last time I was there.
behind the small track on the side
I really like your cosworth, and for those that are boo-hooing it, they have no idea what it is. Did you paint it yourself or did it come like that will all the decals, etc?
dude the car in the picture is not a Cosworth, its a Lancia HF Delta Integrale. The Costworth is still unpainted in the box…
I’d want a drift car!
I thought it REAL Cars!
Did Kuwait ever import Lancia’s?
The Place is very nice, but the track is slippery and can be used for drift but not grip. very poor surface selection, it is just weird. I don’t know if there are any similar surface RC track anywhere.
The scientific club track is simply much better
Oh yeah the scientific club dirt track is much better but it’s meant for off-road cars and 1/8 scale. The tamiya track is mostly for on-road cars. I haven’t seen the scientific club on road track but I think its tar based which would make it grippy but i also think its for 1/8 scale nitro racers and not 1/10 electric.
Yesterday they had jumps and stuff installed on the track at tamiya for off-road cars but my Frog being 2 wheel drive and having dirt tires installed couldn’t get any traction whatsoever.
With on-road cars we didn’t have that many issues the other day. The slippery surface made our turns a lot more exciting with our 4 wheel drive cars sliding around corners. I am definitely going to get a new drift spec car just to drift with on their track.
I’m talking about the on-road track in the scientific club. we drive 1/8, 1/10 and 1/18 on that track. still with alot of power we can’t push further even with the 1/18!! so it is not too big. plus we drive a 1/8 motorcycles with no problems. We also drive Direct-drive cars that are impossible to be driven on any surface. we can use many tire compounds for grip and drift.
On Tamiya track. we can only enjoy drifting no matter what tire we use.
can u race with electric cars on that track? do you have pictures? I think i saw a video once on youtube but most of the focus is always on the dirt track
Yes, we are electric car fans, but not an official race. I personally don’t have pics cos I like to drive not to be a spectator. I might find some pics/videos with my friends.
Mark it would be great if you can collect a good number of Electric car drivers (at least 20) so that we can call the officials in the scientific club to prepare an electric car race for us. No need for prizes, just a fun and friendly races during each season.
Me (and my friends) are getting bored with Tamiya races (although we won most of them :)) because of the bad track, poor race management, very restrict rules, lack of drivers and now high entrance fees compared to the new prizes.
Yeah sounds like a good plan. I need to try out the scientific club track. How much are the entrance fees? Tamiya its like KD1
The track day was 5 KD, but no body went there so they dropt it to 1 KD.
The race Was Free but now it is 5 KD. The prizes were cars and now just medals.
wow car prizes, that would have been cool
It was. Now I think it makes sense to race at the scientific club.
Mark you can search for My Toy Co. at Facebook you can see some pics there.
pictures of what? the tamiya races?
Yes.
Q: who is funding the scientific club?
