Tow Trucks and No Parking

This morning I noticed 4 tow trucks and a police car near my office. I went to check what all the commotion was about and noticed some men hard at work trying to unlock a parked car to get it ready to get towed. I asked the cop what was going on and he said they were towing illegally parked cars. I thought that was cool and about time since the area gets major traffic sometimes due to the fact the illegally parked cars turn the two way road into one.

Sadly, I went back during lunch and noticed the tow trucks were gone, the cop was gone and all the cars parked illegally again. At least they tried…

One time they towed my car in LA and I paid almost $400 to get it back. How much do u think the ticket worth in q8? 5KD or 10KD?

I payed 37 kd overall expense when they towed mine, its 2 kd per day for the pound 10-15 kd to get your car towed (KPTC) and 15 KD for the fine(no parking). If they tow yours on a thursday you are scrwed. And if you done give the keys, they drag the car.Well

also you pay 15 or more to get your car towed to the saftey in case you break down in the middle of the road (correct me if I’m wrong)

its high time they did this. every single day i pass by there it takes me a good 2 minutes to cross the 15-20 sec stretch. cars on both sides, some even double parked. but today was quite a nice surprise. and the funny part is that these same people are so friggin cheap that they cant afford to pay the 100 fils parking fee but its quite ok to get ticketed / booted / towed or even scratched / dented.

cops should install slasher rims on their squap cars in addition to the front / rear bumpers. any car parked illegally, just drive up close and rip a new one. heheh

This is frustrating! Some things will NEVER change in Kuwait… e.g SPEEDING… they supposdily “try” but what’s the use? The same thing with Parking illegally… people are spoiled here…. Again, some things will never change and this is sad…

Hey there,

This has been going on for some time…in fact these drivers get commission to carry these parked cars. A friend faced this same problem and it took him more than 3 days to get his car back and he had to pay KD 43 which includes the towing charges.

Also, expats who do not have parking in their building and park the cars on the streets will face this same problem. So be very careful.

Has it occurred to any of you, that when you park your car, the first thing you do is pull on the hand brake. This locks either a rear or front wheel depending on what make or whether it is a front wheel or rear wheel drive vehicle. So these guys have to unlock the car to disengage the hand break and ensure the car is in neutral. Otherwise there would be hell to pay, if they just drag cars off. Cheers!

While I agree that people shouldn’t be parked illegally, I don’t think the major issue is with ‘spoiled’ or ‘lazy’ people .. its with the lack of proper planning. Office building have less than 20 parking spots (usually reserved for someone who never uses it) and over 200 employees. People are forced to park in illegal areas because there are no parking areas or structures.

The government should focus its initiative on proving parking structures, alternate modes of transportation and insuring that new buildings follow rules on the infrastructure required to support it.

well in this case there is no excuse, the picture above was shot outside Diwaliya a multistory parking lot that never gets completely full AND that building in the picture is Muthana Complex which also has a very large underground parking lot that never gets full. In this case people are just being cheap by parking illegally.

I wish the cops would enforce traffic laws while the cars are in motion.. Not when they are parked and not really killing anyone πŸ™

They also placed me 5 KD ticket loool.

So guys if haven’t found your car, as it happened with me. Go to Shuwikh Traffic Centre πŸ™‚ .

I was wondering around for 2 hours to find my car. They are taking all the cars that are placed in the opened area and who parked non-parking spot πŸ™‚ loool.

Also you have to pay out 10 KD for the people who took your car and also 1 KD for the land fees πŸ™‚ .

There are some really bright people on here! They need to unlock it so they can put the car in neutral! If you refuse too then they will not be held liable for your tires an rims getting tore the hell up!
On another note! The traffic cop need to be out in the mornings between 5 and 7 to get all the dumbasses that are speeding to and from Arifjan!

I seriously hope they start doing more of this around Kuwait. People here have a real hard time parking just a little further from where they need to go. Whats funny is that most of those people could really use the exercise.
