Found this link to a forum with pictures of old Kuwaiti architecture via The Buz Fairy. There are a lot of shots I had seen before but there are also some which I hadn’t. I really love the building above, looked modern today and that picture was taken back in 1962. [Link]

I like the site, the pic I took of Al-Salam Palace was completely new to me.
I don’t like that the site is a forum, which means that the pic links might expire if they’re hosted somewhere else.
That being said, I’m going to save the ones I like, just in case 🙂
That’s actually the old parliament building, currently the Baladia
wow amazing for a 1962 architecture!
I often wonder why they don’t renovate the old buildings in Salmiya near the AUK and Palm Palace instead of knocking them down, or simply ignoring them and putting up 21st century nightmares in their place.
Sad.
i always gaze beyond the decaying facades of the old buliding and notice the fine modern details of that past era… i wonder when did the taste deteriorate from modern retro funky houses to box like houses with window painted fuschia or purple
if i was building a house i would build it like one of those 1960 houses that looked like something from the space era or something
Its too bad that they don’t maintain all these old buildings.
