Vintage wrestling poster

My brother has a thing for taking pictures of old and broken down buildings and I’ve posted the last two of his photo-sets on the blog before (here and here). He recently went and shot another building and uploaded a new photo-set on his flickr account. One picture grabbed my attention since it had an old poster advertising a wrestling event. I told him to send me a close up of that poster which he did and which you can see above and below. The poster was on a building that’s soon to be demolished on Fahad Al Salem street.

I don’t know how old the poster is since there isn’t any date on it, my brother thinks it’s the 80s but my rough guess based on a bit of online research would put this sometime in the early 60s. I think it’s very cool and someone needs to preserve stuff like this. Maybe the part of the wall that has these posters can be broken off or maybe just these pictures are enough?

Here is the link to the full set of pictures my brother took [Link]

Update: A reader was able to calculate what year the poster is from based on the day, date and my rough estimation. The best guess to when this poster dates back to is now 1965.

I just did a quick Google search on “Craven Filtering” and “Dale Martin” Interesting finds.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_wrestling_in_the_United_Kingdom

The poster is definitely pre-80’s and maybe even pre-60’s.

“Professional wrestling in the United Kingdom spans over 100 years but became popular when the then new Independent Television station – ITV began showing it in 1955 firstly on Saturday afternoons and then also in a late night mid week slot.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craven_A

“Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of modern-day Pakistan, was a famous chain-smoker of fifty Craven A cigarettes a day, which eventually led to him being diagnosed with tuberculosis.”

There is no conclusive proof that it is from 1965, though it could be. Talking of years, the day and date combination could be any of the years like: 1948, 1954, 1965, 1971, 1976, 1982 etc. Dale Martin Productions were incorporated in 1948 and continued promoting wrestling even in 1980s. Craven Filter King were also in business in 1980s (not sure whether they still are). Hence, the poster could dated even 1982. BTW, where is Arabic Sports Club? Is it Al-Arabi Sports Club? If the earlier name of Al-Arabi Sports Club was Arabic Sports Club, there is a good chance that poster is dated in the year 1965.

I think there was a WWF wrestling event in Kuwait sometime during the 1980s, but I can’t remember. On the old Blue Belt videos (and those who know what I mean, know what I mean) there used to be commercials with wrestlers (it might have been Big John Studd in one of them giving props to the Blue Belt owner. Does anyone remember this? Tweez, I know you must remember.

Yes, almost every single intro of the Blue Belt tapes had that.

But dude, this is fucken history right there! Where the hell is it? Someone needs to preserve this at least.

dude,do you know how many things are on Fahed Al Salem street in Kuwait City, and kind of close to Muthana?!

can you please be detailed about the location

Tweez there is only 1 building on Fahad al Salem street that’s soon to get demolished, it’s the building adjacent to jashenmal, poster is located outside what used to be the Pioneers dealer
