In my “WiMD Internet – 3 Months Later” post I noted on how my connection’s overall speed had decreased. Turns out the issue was with the wireless connection from my building to their tower since after running tests with their server I noticed I was only getting around 5Mbps instead of 10. The problem has now been fixed and I reran the speedtest and here are the updated results:
I was satisfied with my connection when it wasn’t performing at it’s best since I hadn’t really noticed a drop but now that it’s back to normal I’m even more confident I made the right choice going with WiMD.

A bit expensive.
wimd is very bad provider they have very bad customer care
Mark,
How did you find out that the problem was fixed? Did they contact you or did you test it yourself?
i emailed them with screenshots of my results i got from the tests on wimd.me they told me it seems me and someone else in salmiya were having same issue then a day later they emailed me saying to check it now and it should be fixed.
It’s good to see they are quick to respond. Looks like it’s time to convince the landlord to let WiMD install their antenna so I can get fast, stable internet.
if i could convince my landlord you shouldn’t have a problem. its a small white box that is the size of a router and can be zip locked onto any existing structure on the roof.
I hope so. He wouldn’t let OSN install a satellite dish cuz he’s afraid if one person does it, then everyone will want it. But this is much smaller so hopefully, I’ll have better luck this time.
yeah i have the same issue but this is so small no one will even notice it.
In the other hand, in Adan its the worst since last Saturday, dammit am not even reaching 1 mb !!! not sure when it will be all good again am calling everyday with no luck.
Its fine in Adan full speed/low ping 🙂 maybe its your router or your antenna
سؤال
السرعه اذا اشتركت في ٦ميجابايت تتوقع كافيه ؟
وهل السرعه ثابته ماتنزل عن ٦ ؟
it depends on your needs, 6 should be enough, i have 10 but i share the connection with my brother next door.
Deiya here, I created a long post in the forum detailing my initial impressions and I have to say much has improved since then, the connection is much more stable but I wouldn’t replace my Kems connection with it when it comes to gaming. So I got a special router and I am keeping both connections. Best of both worlds 😀 And also a combined speed of 20 Megabits
Care to share what router you have?
Peplink 20
So you’d recommend KEMS for gaming? Why not Qnet or fasttelco? And what kind of speed do you game on/which games?
I would recommend Kems and Qnet for gaming because those are the ones I have experience with and know for certain their latency to most European servers are good, Qnet having better latency then Kems most of the times.
The reason I switched from Qnet to Kems to begin with was because my Qnet connection was becoming unstable, I had 4Mbps for a year and then suddenly they tell me my phone line can’t handle it, then I switch to Kems and they manage to get me a 6Mbps connection on that same phone line stable.
What about youtube, does it work now?
nope still the same, i can’t stream stuff from youtube without waiting for it to load. vimeo i can stream hd without waiting.
Maybe try clearing your cache if you’re on Chrome and check if any extensions are causing the issue.
Try Speedbit Video accelerator
I might give this a try because my Wataniya download speed sucks.
I was using Zain and this is waaaaay better.
I think it’s competing more with Zain and Mada and less with traditional lines.
Does anyone have service in Mangaf? I live in the tallest building in block 4 and the technician who came this morning said he couldn’t install because the signal was too weak…
So after paying 375KD and waiting 10 days, I find out that I can’t get the service. Now I have to find an alternative, wait for them to install and then wait to get my money back from WIMD. What’s worse, I will have to wait on the MOC to install a phone line if I want DSL, because my apartment shares 4 lines in the entire building. FML.
Anyone have a wireless recommendation for Mangaf?
Try Wataniya’s wireless dongle.
I’ve been using Mada Soho for about 3 months. When the signal is strong, the download speeds are around 1.0 to 1.5 Mbit. Although they promise up to 10 mbit download speeds for my pre-paid package (240KD), I’ve never had a download speed above 1.5 mbit. I regret pre-paying for 12 months since now the ministry of communication is forcing ISPs to lower their prices. When the signal is weak, I don’t even bother using the internet.
@Mark any update about WIMD. It still good? please Reply
still good
Dear Mark,
I’m actually grateful that i’ve been introduced to WiMD by you!! I’m in a desperate need to ask few question, how can i contact you, please? I would appreciate if you can help me with this, just few questions and hope i’m not bothering you! I live in kuwait and i finally found a wireless ISP that you recommend. Looking forward your reply!
Regards.
What part of town do you live? I’ve moved to Salmiya and I’m using Mada, it works very well for downloads, but ping isn’t good enough for gaming. You may also consider the Zain 4G USB stick or the Zain 4G Router. I’ve only heard good things about it, but your bandwidth will be capped depending on your plan. The thing I like about Mada is there’s no cap.
