YES, there was an order, but YouTube is one of most visited sites in Kuwait.. so, it’s “lame” to block it (or so 😛 ? )

I don’t understand the whole site blocking thing, if there is something on YouTube they don’t like they could flag it as inappropriate or contact YouTube to complain. Everyone should be able to monitor and sensor his/her own behavior.

“Since the website displays the Koran in the form of songs sung with the oud (stringed instrument) … and displays disrespectful pictures of the Prophet Mohammad … please proceed with immediate effect in blocking the website http://www.youtube.com,” read a copy of a memo obtained by Reuters.

The Ministry of Communications was not immediately available for a comment. The website could still be accessed in Kuwait on Monday.

Weak governments are becoming whining children (Turkey, China, and now Kuwait). Every time someone makes fun of them, their history, or their leaders they start taking unnecessary actions such as media campaigns and lawsuits. What they don’t understand is that their extreme actions undermined their argument and make them look bad to the rest of the world. Just let the people deal with it instead!

They should ban the internet next.

And then cinemas.

And restaurants.

And telephones.

And then music.

And then maybe have a book burning festival like the Nazis did in Safat Square.

I watched more YouTube yesterday than the last six months put together…

This is what happens when you give the religious power. They want ignorance through their censorship, they want punishment for questioning them.
We’ve seen this type of behaviour many times in history, namely the spanish inquisition. The spaniards invented an inquisition in order to punish any decent.. just like our religious mps who are supposed to fight for our freedoms, then they invent their religious commitee to seek out and punish any decent to the way they want us to think, talk and dress.

slowly people are starting to understand how dangerous any religion is when it becomes political.
things will get worse before they will get better.. just look at saudi and iran.. theyve all had enough of the craziness, and bigotry.

They think power can come by controlling people… controlling what they read, what they hear, what they see, and so how they think… They’re too stupid to realize they’re only building walls around themselves. they’re isolating themselves and creating more hate for them. Sure all they care about is money and power and this is bringing it to them. But apparently they’re to stupid to realize that this will come back to them and bite them in the ass sooner not later!

You can see their point tho ( the anti-tubers ) when you see that guy who killed 10 people in a collge in Finland had posted on You Tube all about what he was going to do. Makes you think?

C’mon Teach you can do better than that, if the Finland nutcase created a website to represent his views on humanity would you advocate banning all websites because some may contain scribblings of insane people?

Anyway this thing is not over, we got parliament members who are now pushing for the reinforcement of the ban because there is no greater threat to Kuwait’s family structure and the Islamic world than youtube. Watch out Mickey Mouse, you maybe next!
