Thor

Just watched Thor tonight here in Lebanon. I don’t think anything would be cut in Kuwait, maybe just 1 kissing scene and that’s about it. It’s a good movie to watch, dragged slightly somewhere around the middle but other than that it was entertaining. I sadly watched it in 3D since there wasn’t a 2D option available. Is there anyone who actually enjoys wearing glasses to watch a movie? Does anyone really care about 3D movies? Thor is not worth watching in 3D, if you have a choice watch the non 3D version.

The movie was great but the 3D was absolutely useless, it’s never actually used except for the credits at the end. There’s a difference between movies filmed for 3D and movies where 3D is added after filming to raise the ticket price.

I saw this movie twice (had to go for a second time, and not because of the movie…).

Anyhoo, I enjoyed it a lot more in 2D. As with most movies these days, the 3D was just an afterthought tacked-on to make more money out of it.

I’d give the movie a 7.5/10 (worth watching), and much more comfortable in 2D.

The only movie I remember worth watching in 3D was Avatar. James Cameron used the 3D as an immersion technique (you don’t really NOTICE it), rather then a gimmick (Oooh look, things are popping out!).

Also he filmed Avatar using 3D cameras, most modern movies add the 3D as an effect after filming so it looks crap.

Frankly, people complaining about 3D is getting tiring. Not only is 3D here to stay but I love it. Yes I like wearing glasses and watching a movie.

And to answer your question, no, no one likes 3D, that’s why they keep making 3D movies.

*sense the sarcasm*

They make 3D movies because they’re allowed to charge more for them, so they can sell 2/3 the tickets and it still looks like they made a good deal of money. Lol at actually thinking companies care what people like unless money is involved

You do realize that certain people get eye strain from watching 3D movies right? Nausea and vomiting as well.

Hi Mark

Just thought I’d comment on your remark “Is there anyone who actually enjoys wearing glasses to watch a movie?”

I wear glasses all the time, as do many people. Be thankful you only have to wear them for an hour or so in a cinema.

Thanks

Gail

hmmm … i saw it in Kuwait in the VIP theater and don’t remember but maybe one scene being cut as Mark indicated … thought the movie was OK … nothing special really.

Well the problem with Kuwait theaters is that the quality of the pictures here are horrible after watching a couple movies when I was in the States a few weeks back. they are so crystal clear like an LED. Here they are all grainy looking! Even for all the money they spend to make it look nice in the theaters here the sound quality isn’t near as good as back in the States either. I think they need to look into hiring some new people to make better decisions and upgrade their quality of sound and picture!

I watched it in Kuwait, there were barely any cut scenes. This might have been the least uncensored movie I have watched in KNCC.

i love 3D movies actually theyre entertaining..i watched Thor in 3D, i liked it..the movie itself was packed with action..fun to watch

I watched it in 3D and wished I saw it in 2D. The 3d doesn’t add anything and actually makes some seasons blurrier and harder to watch – there were parts where I couldn’t tell what was happening in 3D.

Half the cinemas in Kuwait stop the projector before the surprise so I’ll spoil it here:

You see Loki on earth with the cube

also, Thor will be back in the New Avengers movie.

Does Samuel Jackson or Nick Fury know that the guy is Loki or not?!

The Avengers movie was announced since I think 2009 or 2010 so that part not much of a surprise 😛 It’s out next Summer, they’ll finish off the stories with Captain America later this summer

3D is pretty useless in Kuwait, since most of the time the only thing in 3D is the actual translation at the bottom. If I end up in a 3D movie I watch the entire thing without the glasses, unsurprisingly most of it is 2 dimensional.

Watched it in 3D a week ago and it was not impressive at all. It’s pretty much watching a 2D movie with huge ass glasses on, barely any real 3D sequences. They actually did cut a scene when Thor saw Jane for the last time. It was a pretty great movie.

i love these scenes they are throwing in at the end of these marvel movies. they are really bringing the marvel universe together

in the first Iron Man movie they showed Nick Fury talking to Tony Stark about The Avengers

The Incredible Hulk (2008) we see Tony Stark approach the General in a bar, asking him about The Hulk and the problem they have

Iron man 2 we see Thor´s hammer for the first time.

Thor, return of Loki with the cube

I wasn’t too bothered by 3D until I wanted to see this movie. Mainly because up until then all the movies I had wanted to see were easily available in 2D, but to see this in 2D I had to go way out of my way to a cinema I don’t know and pay a premium for VIP seating which ended up costing even more than 3D.
First and last movie I will ever watch like this. 3D is blurry, dark and to be quite frank not really that 3D. You can keep your 3D movies, just give me the choice of 2D as well.
