I’ve been a fan of Shure earphones ever since I got my first pair back in 2004 and have owned a number of different pairs since. But, I’ve always had to order my Shure’s from Amazon because I could never find them locally until now. Last week I found out that the local musical instruments store Salmeen carries Shure earphones and for the most part, they aren’t that overpriced. What are Shure’s outstanding qualities over other top quality headphones such as Bose, Sennheiser, etc? Sound quality? sound isolation? durability? good for sports? value for money? comfort?
I’ve been a fan as well for years since I got the 215s years ago on a black Friday sale. I’ve since upgraded to the SE535LTD and am very happy with those as well. My one warning, is that their bluetooth implementations are pure garbage. I have both the BT1 and BT2 dongles, and both have serious issues. The BT1 has a cheap plastic clip that broke without any abuse after a couple months, and serious signal issues. It will cut out while your phone is in your pocket quite frequently. The BT2 is slightly improved. It has better codecs, and the battery and clip are much sturdier. The signal is also slightly improved, but only slightly. It will still frequently cut out in many situatuions, and the stiff wire that keeps the wire shaped around your ear broke on one side for me, again with no abuse.
On the other hand, the wired implementations are great, and the MMCX connectors have been a lifesaver as something happening to the wire doesn’t ruin the whole product.
I’ve stumbled upon ‘Status Audio CB-1 whilst searching for some serious sound quality and bang for buck, I’m completely satisfied except for the somewhat poor material (to be expected for such price) but the quality and comfort are outstanding. Look into them as they’re not well known
