‘The Wanted’ Coming to Kuwait

Wataniya Ooredoo are bringing the music group ‘The Wanted’ to perform live this coming Saturday at an invite only event that’s going to be held at their Red Dome near 360 Mall.

I’m not a fan of ‘The Wanted’ but I’m curious to why they can bring big bands to Kuwait and no one else can? A couple of years back they brought the musician ‘Ne-Yo’ and now this.

they are relaunching the renamed brand.i think they are paying them heavy to taking this as an investment.

In recent months, many famous Indian and Filipino popstars have done concerts in Kuwait

Pinoy pop concerts have been pretty common since last September

Correction for you, Pinoy concerts have been common since 2004. That was the first one I went to with my wife and that was at Green Island. Most of them are held in Hawalli during the Philippine Independece Day. don’t know how well that will work this year since That day falls during Ramadan.

what are you talking about? flipino concerts happen nearly every other month and have been happening for years. its just that not everyone is invited 😛

if you got the sponsors and that kind of money even you can bring ! there is no problem from ministry for any type of concert, the only concern is they should have seating crowd no dancing crowd !

Never heard of that band before!

Are they performing part of event? Or is it just their concert? Doesn’t make much sense to me to have invitation only event to a band hardly known… At least to my age group :/

Anyway, regarding your question to how can they bring them… In believe the simple answer is there is nothing restricting such concerts… Other than the interest.

So when are we going to see a price war between Ooredoo and Zain, where I benefit as a consumer in Kuwait? Let the battles begin!

To use a marketing technique like this is not very professional. You don’t market to your customer base utilizing a ‘wasta’ approach, this is highly unprofessional, because you must be inclusive, not exclusive. What Ooredoo is saying is that we are privileged and only the privileged will attend our concert in a market that craves to be more open, especially when speaking to the youth of this nation. This concert is in poor taste and Ooredoo should learn to market to their customer base in a more professional manner through pricing, quality product lines and being more competitive in an overly priced market like Kuwait. Rates in the UAE are better and there is no reason why Kuwait has to have such high telecommunication rates compared to other GCC nations. Maybe, this is a Kuwaiti marketing technique, but when I have visited Kuwait, I found their marketing to be very poor compared to the marketing in Dubai. Wataniya Airways did this, loved the airline, but they ran the airline as an exclusive airline not an inclusive airline, and that, I contend, is why they failed – poor marketing.

The concert took place yesterday and not very well attended. Although the crowd that was present was going crazy over the group! I believe the target audience was teenagers and hence the exclusivity. The stage set up and sound was professionally done and managed very well. These marketing concerts are done quiet frequently by other organizations as well. Al-Mulla, Cancer Center of Lebanon, etc. have done such events in the past. There are several concerts happening in Kuwait at various times and these are organized based on costs and venues. Unfortunately, Ministry of Information permissions and sponsorships are hard to come by making it tough to organize them.
