The 2016 edition of the Global Slavery Index was released a couple of days ago and Kuwait came in 108th place. There are an estimated 18,200 slaves in Kuwait at the moment putting Kuwait in 25th place in the “Estimated Proportion of Population in Modern Slavery by Country” list. [Source]

So how many ( the door is wide open or if you don’t like it just leave ) comments we will see ???

Could someone explain the numbers to me please… 18000 slaves? How are they defining slavery? I clicked the link but the language is very vague.

If they considered domestic workers slaves for example then the number would be much higher.

I think there might be something wrong with that list, since one of biggest European country (member of UE) is on 38th place and I’m pretty sure that slavery is not an issue back there.

definition or no – there are examples of old school as well as new and improved, govt and ministry assisted slavery. I mean even by the most lax definition, if your company (or home employer for nannies ann drivers)has your passport – you are being compelled to work under threat. Chances are a good chunk of ppl on these boards are slave owners, and some also slaves.
