According to the second World Happiness Report launched by the United Nations, Kuwait came 32nd in the world behind our GCC neighbors UAE (14), Oman (23) and Qatar (27). Kuwait actually dropped a spot compared to last year but on the bright side at least we came ahead of Saudi Arabia (33) this time around. Bahrain was the least happiest between the GCC countries coming in at 79 while Lebanon came in 97th, India in 111th and Egypt in 130th.

Well, with all the deportations etc happening everywhere i am not surprised that Kuwait scored low on the happiness scale.
Especially if you’re getting deported to #111 or #130!
I almost felt guilty for laughing at that.

In Rome you walk like the Romans.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the report goes on to state “In the six GCC countries ā Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE ā the sample was restricted to nationals and Arab expatriates”

Keeping that in mind I think we can safely say, this report too, like every other one we have seen so far is skewed given the limitations.
Ok, just deported to #130 in that case
HAHAH i could have guessed that. ask the oblivious minority, you’ll get a happy answer!
Lol they would probably just give me a happy answer out of fear of offending anyone!! and i am also quite interested in you considering them to be ‘oblivious’..care to elaborate? not trying to be uncivil or anything..just curious š
Maybe GCC residents should consider moving to Mars.

Omg that scam reached the middle east as well?
1259 idiots who just parted with their money for no reason.
What is happiness.
Maybe people should make twice as much from working ten times as hard and paying half of it as tax.
Education is free.
Health services are “free” to a certain extent.
As a Kuwaiti you get food for free.
You die and your 6×2 piece of land is free.
People make people unhappy. If a half full glass is empty it’s their problem.
Happiness is not always related to money!
I think it’s pretty safe to say almost everyone that moved to Kuwait moved for the money though
true. probably thats why many people are miserable
Agreed and the things I mentioned took a load off people’s backs. People either have too much time to worry about things or not enough time to enjoy anything.
I agree with the first half.
its true, we get a lot of free stuff in Kuwait, even more than the things that you mentioned, but are those things what make people happy? sure it helps a lot, but there are other things that we are missing in Kuwait
When I was younger, I used to say the same thing. When you grow older and try to live and work outside and compare it to living and working in Kuwait… money isn’t everything but it sure makes you a lot more comfortable.
Being Kuwaiti in Kuwait is like turning on the cheats in GTA
LOOOOOL
Like I said before, Having money is great, but we are still missing other important things
Haha. You are having a good day isn’t it?
I agree there are a lot of stuff we are missing.
People following the law just because its the right thing to do is one. I miss that the most compared to being abroad.

Same here
Whaaa? Did you go to college there? Did you see people waiting to turn 21 to drink and not doing drugs? Did you see wasted people actually wait in line to use a bathroom?
And another narrow minded adolescent.
No wait, most adolescents are narrow minded.
How is that narrow minded? Those are all examples of people not following the law at all.
Maybe Kuwait will move up the happy scale next year if the 5.6% salary “growth” takes place.

Such statistics dont often reflect reality.
Its like that restaurant ranking list you posted before… The more votes a restaurant get, the lower its rank becomes. The less people vote, the higher the rank is.
So for Oman ranking for example, a handful of the very few educated voted, so you got a good average score. UAE and Qatar probably paid people to vote for them, and Kuwait… of course you’ll get lower average because you have more people speaking freely and more people have access to this voting system.
Anyway, did they publish figures of participants in voting for each country?
“Such statistics dont often reflect reality.”
most statistics reflect an approximate value within a margin of error. unless you can prove a bias from the researchers, then the statistics is good as a true indicator of the said value.
Until there is freedom of choice and proper plans are implemented for development – – Kuwait will never be happy.
A shame because the country has so much potential and yet nothing ever happens.
People are just tired of the lies.
You can always choose between McD or BK …
What do you expect? The richer people are, the less happy. Heck, Nigeria (I think) has the happiest people because they’re poor, and when they accomplish something they feel good.
I am sure frustration breeds unhappiness.
If as an expat you think the roads are bad, traffic is horrible, the airport sucks, the govt. is a giant pit of doom.
Imagine was someone who is from here feels like. Probably twice as bad.
At least as an expat, this place is temporary for you. You can go somewhere else (it may not be better, but its a choice).
If you are a Kuwaiti, then all that (we as expats) complain about, its theirs. They have to live with it, they cannot run away from it.
The moment you get on that plane and go to your home country (or heck, even somewhere else) as an expat you can get away.
As a Kuwaiti citizen, you know that you are only coming back; and that same dingy airport with the horrid smoke smell and the same guy who stares at you will be there – and that’s it for you.
That might explain the ratings.
