If you’re following up on the news you know by now that Trump announced tariffs on everyone basically, including Kuwait. According to the sheets of paper distributed to reporters, Kuwait will be getting a 10% tariff on all imports to the United States. Not sure how much that will affect local exporters since I’m not sure what we export to the US other than oil? Maybe KDD chocolate milk?

considering Kuwait’s entire economy is run on exported oil and the us is one of its biggest buyers for sure it will have a big impact on Kuwait and the overall oil prices.
US does not import oil from Kuwait.
Last year the US imported on average 20,000 barrels of oil a day from Kuwait

IIRC, that was FOC aid granted to them as assistance following hurricane katrina… which they completely forgot about and did not receive until recent years when the subject came up by coincidence.
Will this mean higher import tax for Shop&Ship and MyUS?
no because you’re shipping from US to Kuwait. The tax is coming into the US not leaving the US.
USA buys no oil from Kuwait
The number one American export to Kuwait is fast food
The United States does buy oil from Kuwait, look it up https://oec.world/en/profile/bilateral-country/kwt/partner/usa
Oil has been exempted from the tariffs.
Exports won’t make a difference. It’s what kuwait sends to the US that matters
I dont get tarrifs, so when kuwait sends out oil to the US, kuwait has to pay a 10% tax?? And at the same time recieving the money from the Us for the oil?
kuwait wouldn’t pay the tax, whoever is importing the oil pays the tax.
Kuwait for example applies a 5% tax on any import. So when you order something from amazon and it arrives to kuwait you’ll pay 5% tax and not amazon.
Same over there but the other way around.
Does this affect me here buying american products?
It shouldn’t unless it’s affecting the American company. For example Apple, they make their phones in countries that now have tariffs applied. So buying an iPhone from the US will now most likely be more expensive than buying it from a local authorized reseller.
Its a short term hard line negotiating tactic. It wont last or stand. Its to get the other countries to submit & sit at the table. It better be or were screwed.
Yeah because El Loco Dorito always seemed perfectly sane.
Thought i smelled you in the area. Welcome back fluffer.
Oil and oil byproducts are exempt so this doesn’t affect kuwait at all
