Benjamin Boring Button

Just got back from watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It was toooo long and verrrrrry boring. Maybe if it was an hour shorter, MAYBE it would have been interesting but it just dragged and dragged. On my way out I overheard a group of girls talk about how much they loved the movie and I guess thats how it got an 8.3 out of 10 on IMDB, its a chick flick!

On a positive note before the movie started I watched the trailer for Watchmen, now THATS going to be one helluva movie! [Link]

You’re the first one to make a negative comment about it! Everyone who watched it loved it, including myself! and I’m sure 65,999 people on IMDB can’t be wrong, and no! don’t tell me they’re all chicks! haha

it isn’t a chickflick but I agree mark… I was WAY too over rated I dragged on so much that I actually fell asleep I wouldn’t recomend this to anyone!!

dude that movie put me to sleep mark no duh i wad boring IWAS HYPER 2 REDBULLS AND ONLY 1 HOURS HAS PAST SINCE I DRANK EM ๐Ÿ˜›

I have just written a post about this boring movie!!!

I just came back from the movie… me and my husband were BORED… almost slept… and hell not it is NOT A CHICK FLICK…

it is BORING!!! the most MOST boring movie on earth!!!
Even more boring that… what was that bad movie again?! Even Quarantine was more cheerful…

The girls probably were swooning at the 15 minutes Brad Pitt looked young and riding his bike in it!!!

hey everyone
this movie is one of the best movies ever.
it`s just a matter of taste ,,, so i think it`s not fair to call it boring ,,,

I thought it was quite philosophical.. Not exactly anybody’s cup of tea, I guess, but it had some meaning to it..

I personally enjoyed it but I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody and insist that it was “OMG! SO LIKE TOTALLY AMAZING!!” lol

I think I’d just say they should watch it if they like story-telling and interesting characters..

It’s actually a good movie, but the only problem is that it’s too long. I watched it in the theaters on Christmas and didn’t mind its length, because I was enjoying it. The people with me also enjoyed it, and when the movie was over, the audience started applauding.

Traitor is also a good movie.

I’m sure that’s because of your choice of movies. You’r anxious wait for Watchmen indicates your more of the gung-ho action type likers. The contemplative-philosophical “long” movies may not be your cup of tea. On the other hand the chicks digging it, IS NOT THE REASON IT GOT 8.3 . I’m sure they said the same thing after high school musical, it got a 3~ on imdb ๐Ÿ™‚ . On the other hand I shouldn’t fall into the same pit and generalize, some chicks DIG lotr, dark knight, seven pounds etc and I have nothing but the utmost respect for them….. but that’s just me ๐Ÿ™‚ ….. Traitor is an AWESOME movie, you better make sure you go to the right theater and watch it.

looking at the comments, its not a surprise why independent and well directed films will never get played in this region. same blockbuster cheap thrills are filling the cinemas here! only lebanon is the only market for a different taste in in the ME.

A movie that was nominated thirteen times in the oscars must have something special about it other than the fact that it is for chicks..

As John Gruber just put it

“The award for โ€œBest Pictureโ€ often goes to a film that is, clearly, not the best picture. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. The egregious mistakes are clear when viewed through the prism of time: Dances With Wolves winning over GoodFellas in 1991; Ordinary People winning over Raging Bull in 1981; Oliver! winning in 1969, with 2001: A Space Odyssey not even garnering a best picture nomination; and, perhaps most infamously, How Green Was My Valley winning over Citizen Kane in 1942.” https://daringfireball.net/2009/02/best_picture

So just because a movie was nominated for best picture doesn’t really mean its the best picture.

The best picture was given to Slumdog Millionnare which yourself indicated before that it is the best movie of the year…so you are contradicting yourself here…on the other hand, its definite being nominated does not mean its a great movie however it means that it has been appraised by people who saw it and specialized people in that industry and for that it deserves some appreciation and in the end each one has has his own opinion and must be respected for it.

Contradicting myself would mean I said one thing and then said the opposite which I didn’t. I never said I thought Benjamin Button was a great movie so I couldn’t have contradicted myself there.

I do think Slumdog Millionaire deserved to win best picture this year, again that doesn’t mean I am contradicting myself by agreeing with what John said and that is just because a movie wins best picture doesn’t mean it was the best picture. He also gave some examples which I totally agree with. John believes Wall-E should have won best picture, I don’t agree but both of those movies I enjoyed a lot more than Benjamin Button.

If some “specialized” people in the movie industry liked the movie doesn’t mean I should. If everyone liked the movie that also doesn’t mean I should.

If you actually understood what i was saying by each having an opinion and it should be respected you would not have become so defensive ๐Ÿ™‚ as for “Toni”, IF YOU ARE THE SAME PERSON THAT STATED THAT FEMALES SHOULD NOT RATE MOVIES AND STAY IN THEIR KITCHEN”, then i think you are not credible enough for me….

hmm I have to agree with toni, the oscars have become more of a social-recognition awards. I’ve ranted in detail about this in my blog. Other classic cases in point: They didn’t give Will Smith for Ali, next time around….. they felt guilty about not giving an African American the prestigious award and gave it to Denzel Washington. What further irks the hell out of me is DW got it over Russel Crowe in Beautiful mind. That is outright crazy. RC got it for Gladiator which again leaves me stumped. Anyone could have acted the part of Gladiator and brought about the same effect. A beautiful mind on the other hand was a classic. This time I feel Rahman/Wall E were the only meaningful oscars. By the way when have we ever had a case where the Oscar winners were “truly” deserving? Is it a problem with the public’s insatiable need to critique (not criticize)?

Sean Penn ๐Ÿ™ shame on you
walla Rourke wa7shy in the wrestler

button was a great movie with great story/plot/acting/directing

i wonder what Boyle did to deserve best director for slumdog ????
Finsher maskeen the directing in Button was amazing the places the angles

Dark knight should win best picture ,, i wonder why was it not even nominated ??

watchmen will be HUGE i read the graphic novel maybe 3 times its amazing,, i think it will be long like 2 and half hours maybe

i watched it yesterday at the avenues the 8:45 show , were u there?? u’re right it was so damn boring , it was all ok untill he started turning from a 40 yrs old man to a baby,,,things started to feel pretty weird! now i really know why it didn’t earn so much oscars , there were sum nice words at sum scenes though , but the movie as a whole…not so good! i went there with dad and untill now hw’s blaming me for wasting 3 hrs of his life ๐Ÿ˜€

It’s actually really really really really good, one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. It’s not a movie to watch when there’s nothing else, or whilst bored or just expecting fast-developing events, if so I recommend you watch Taken.

Benji Button is an excellent movie with amazing performances by Taraji, Cate, and Tilda. It’s anything but a chick flick.

Just got finished watching Benjamin Button on DVD… and I must tell you… it was in fact BORING AS HELL! ๐Ÿ™‚
